א׳בָּרְכִ֥י נַפְשִׁ֗י אֶת־יְ֫הֹוָ֥ה יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהַי גָּדַ֣לְתָּ מְּאֹ֑ד ה֖וֹד וְהָדָ֣ר לָבָֽשְׁתָּ׃
1Bless the ETERNAL One, O my soul;O ETERNAL One, my God, You are very great;You are clothed in glory and majesty,
ב׳עֹֽטֶה־א֭וֹר כַּשַּׂלְמָ֑ה נוֹטֶ֥ה שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם כַּיְרִיעָֽה׃
2wrapped in a robe of light;You spread the heavens like a tent cloth.
ג׳הַ֥מְקָרֶ֥ה בַמַּ֗יִם עֲֽלִיּ֫וֹתָ֥יו הַשָּׂם־עָבִ֥ים רְכוּב֑וֹ הַֽ֝מְהַלֵּ֗ךְ עַל־כַּנְפֵי־רֽוּחַ׃
3YouaYou Heb. 3rd person; so also in vv. 4 and 5. set the rafters of the heavenly lofts in the waters—making the clouds a chariot,moving on the wings of the wind.
ד׳עֹשֶׂ֣ה מַלְאָכָ֣יו רוּח֑וֹת מְ֝שָׁרְתָ֗יו אֵ֣שׁ לֹהֵֽט׃
4You make messengers of the winds,servants of fiery flames.
ה׳יָֽסַד־אֶ֭רֶץ עַל־מְכוֹנֶ֑יהָ בַּל־תִּ֝מּ֗וֹט עוֹלָ֥ם וָעֶֽד׃
5You established the earth on its foundations,so that it shall never totter.
ו׳תְּ֭הוֹם כַּלְּב֣וּשׁ כִּסִּית֑וֹ עַל־הָ֝רִ֗ים יַ֖עַמְדוּ־מָֽיִם׃
6You made the deep cover it as a garment;the waters stood above the mountains.
ז׳מִן־גַּעֲרָ֣תְךָ֣ יְנוּס֑וּן מִן־ק֥וֹל רַ֝עַמְךָ֗ יֵחָפֵזֽוּן׃
7They fled at Your blast,rushed away at the sound of Your thunder—
ח׳יַעֲל֣וּ הָ֭רִים יֵרְד֣וּ בְקָע֑וֹת אֶל־מְ֝ק֗וֹם זֶ֤ה ׀ יָסַ֬דְתָּ לָהֶֽם׃
8mountains rising, valleys sinking—to the place You established for them.
ט׳גְּֽבוּל־שַׂ֭מְתָּ בַּל־יַעֲבֹר֑וּן בַּל־יְ֝שֻׁב֗וּן לְכַסּ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃
9You set bounds they must not passso that they never again cover the earth.
י׳הַֽמְשַׁלֵּ֣חַ מַ֭עְיָנִים בַּנְּחָלִ֑ים בֵּ֥ין הָ֝רִ֗ים יְהַלֵּכֽוּן׃
10You make springs gush forth in torrents;they make their way between the hills,
י״איַ֭שְׁקוּ כׇּל־חַיְת֣וֹ שָׂדָ֑י יִשְׁבְּר֖וּ פְרָאִ֣ים צְמָאָֽם׃
11giving drink to all the wild beasts;the wild asses slake their thirst.
י״בעֲ֭לֵיהֶם עוֹף־הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם יִשְׁכּ֑וֹן מִבֵּ֥ין עֳ֝פָאיִ֗ם יִתְּנוּ־קֽוֹל׃
12The birds of the sky dwell beside themand sing among the foliage.
י״גמַשְׁקֶ֣ה הָ֭רִים מֵעֲלִיּוֹתָ֑יו מִפְּרִ֥י מַ֝עֲשֶׂ֗יךָ תִּשְׂבַּ֥ע הָאָֽרֶץ׃
13You water the mountains from YourbYour Heb. 3rd person. lofts;the earth is sated from the fruit of Your work.
י״דמַצְמִ֤יחַ חָצִ֨יר ׀ לַבְּהֵמָ֗ה וְ֭עֵשֶׂב לַעֲבֹדַ֣ת הָאָדָ֑ם לְה֥וֹצִיא לֶ֝֗חֶם מִן־הָאָֽרֶץ׃
14You make the grass grow for the cattle,and herbage for humans’ laborthat they may get food out of the earth—
ט״ווְיַ֤יִן ׀ יְשַׂמַּ֬ח לְֽבַב־אֱנ֗וֹשׁ לְהַצְהִ֣יל פָּנִ֣ים מִשָּׁ֑מֶן וְ֝לֶ֗חֶם לְֽבַב־אֱנ֥וֹשׁ יִסְעָֽד׃
15wine that cheers human hearts,oil that makes the face shine,coil that makes the face shine Lit. “to make the face shine from oil.” and bread that sustains human life.
ט״זיִ֭שְׂבְּעוּ עֲצֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה אַֽרְזֵ֥י לְ֝בָנ֗וֹן אֲשֶׁ֣ר נָטָֽע׃
16The trees of the ETERNAL drink their fill,the cedars of Lebanon, God’s own planting,
י״זאֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֭ם צִפֳּרִ֣ים יְקַנֵּ֑נוּ חֲ֝סִידָ֗ה בְּרוֹשִׁ֥ים בֵּיתָֽהּ׃
17where birds make their nests;the stork has her home in the junipers.
י״חהָרִ֣ים הַ֭גְּבֹהִים לַיְּעֵלִ֑ים סְ֝לָעִ֗ים מַחְסֶ֥ה לַֽשְׁפַנִּֽים׃
18The high mountains are for wild goats;the crags are a refuge for rock-badgers.
י״טעָשָׂ֣ה יָ֭רֵחַ לְמוֹעֲדִ֑ים שֶׁ֝֗מֶשׁ יָדַ֥ע מְבוֹאֽוֹ׃
19[God] made the moon to mark the seasons;the sun knows when to set.
כ׳תָּֽשֶׁת־חֹ֭שֶׁךְ וִ֣יהִי לָ֑יְלָה בּוֹ־תִ֝רְמֹ֗שׂ כׇּל־חַיְתוֹ־יָֽעַר׃
20You bring on darkness and it is night,when all the beasts of the forests stir.
כ״אהַ֭כְּפִירִים שֹׁאֲגִ֣ים לַטָּ֑רֶף וּלְבַקֵּ֖שׁ מֵאֵ֣ל אׇכְלָֽם׃
21The lions roar for prey,seeking their food from God.
כ״בתִּזְרַ֣ח הַ֭שֶּׁמֶשׁ יֵאָסֵפ֑וּן וְאֶל־מְ֝עוֹנֹתָ֗ם יִרְבָּצֽוּן׃
22When the sun rises, they come homeand couch in their dens.
כ״גיֵצֵ֣א אָדָ֣ם לְפׇעֳל֑וֹ וְֽלַעֲבֹ֖דָת֣וֹ עֲדֵי־עָֽרֶב׃
23People then go out to their work,to their labor until the evening.
כ״דמָה־רַבּ֬וּ מַעֲשֶׂ֨יךָ ׀ יְֽהֹוָ֗ה כֻּ֭לָּם בְּחׇכְמָ֣ה עָשִׂ֑יתָ מָלְאָ֥ה הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ קִנְיָנֶֽךָ׃
24How many are the things You have made, O ETERNAL One;You have made them all with wisdom;the earth is full of Your creations.
כ״הזֶ֤ה ׀ הַיָּ֥ם גָּדוֹל֮ וּרְחַ֢ב יָ֫דָ֥יִם שָֽׁם־רֶ֭מֶשׂ וְאֵ֣ין מִסְפָּ֑ר חַיּ֥וֹת קְ֝טַנּ֗וֹת עִם־גְּדֹלֽוֹת׃
25There is the sea, vast and wide,with its creatures beyond number,living things, small and great.
כ״ושָׁ֭ם אֳנִיּ֣וֹת יְהַלֵּכ֑וּן לִ֝וְיָתָ֗ן זֶֽה־יָצַ֥רְתָּ לְשַֽׂחֶק־בּֽוֹ׃
26There go the ships,and Leviathan that You formed to sport with.
כ״זכֻּ֭לָּם אֵלֶ֣יךָ יְשַׂבֵּר֑וּן לָתֵ֖ת אׇכְלָ֣ם בְּעִתּֽוֹ׃
27All of them look to Youto give them their food when it is due.
כ״חתִּתֵּ֣ן לָ֭הֶם יִלְקֹט֑וּן תִּפְתַּ֥ח יָ֝דְךָ֗ יִשְׂבְּע֥וּן טֽוֹב׃
28Give it to them, they gather it up;open Your hand, they are well satisfied;
כ״טתַּסְתִּ֥יר פָּנֶיךָ֮ יִֽבָּהֵ֫ל֥וּן תֹּסֵ֣ף ר֭וּחָם יִגְוָע֑וּן וְֽאֶל־עֲפָרָ֥ם יְשׁוּבֽוּן׃
29hide Your face, they are terrified;take away their breath, they perishand turn again into dust;
ל׳תְּשַׁלַּ֣ח ר֭וּחֲךָ יִבָּרֵא֑וּן וּ֝תְחַדֵּ֗שׁ פְּנֵ֣י אֲדָמָֽה׃
30send back Your breath, they are created,and You renew the face of the earth.
ל״איְהִ֤י כְב֣וֹד יְהֹוָ֣ה לְעוֹלָ֑ם יִשְׂמַ֖ח יְהֹוָ֣ה בְּמַעֲשָֽׂיו׃
31May GOD’s glory endure forever;may GOD rejoice in these works!
ל״בהַמַּבִּ֣יט לָ֭אָרֶץ וַתִּרְעָ֑ד יִגַּ֖ע בֶּהָרִ֣ים וְֽיֶעֱשָֽׁנוּ׃
32—The One who looks at the earth and it trembles,touches the mountains and they smoke.
ל״גאָשִׁ֣ירָה לַיהֹוָ֣ה בְּחַיָּ֑י אֲזַמְּרָ֖ה לֵאלֹהַ֣י בְּעוֹדִֽי׃
33I will sing to the ETERNAL as long as I live;all my life I will chant hymns to my God.
ל״דיֶעֱרַ֣ב עָלָ֣יו שִׂיחִ֑י אָ֝נֹכִ֗י אֶשְׂמַ֥ח בַּיהֹוָֽה׃
34May my prayer be found pleasing;I will rejoice in GOD.
ל״היִתַּ֤מּוּ חַטָּאִ֨ים ׀ מִן־הָאָ֡רֶץ וּרְשָׁעִ֤ים ׀ ע֤וֹד אֵינָ֗ם בָּרְכִ֣י נַ֭פְשִׁי אֶת־יְהֹוָ֗ה הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ {פ}
35May sinners disappear from the earth,and the wicked be no more.Bless Yah,dYah See note at 68.5. O my soul.Hallelujah.

א׳הוֹד֣וּ לַ֭יהֹוָה קִרְא֣וּ בִשְׁמ֑וֹ הוֹדִ֥יעוּ בָ֝עַמִּ֗ים עֲלִילוֹתָֽיו׃
1Praise GOD;call on this name;proclaim God’s deeds among the peoples.
ב׳שִֽׁירוּ־ל֭וֹ זַמְּרוּ־ל֑וֹ שִׂ֝֗יחוּ בְּכׇל־נִפְלְאוֹתָֽיו׃
2Sing out praises;speak of all those wondrous acts.
ג׳הִֽ֭תְהַלְלוּ בְּשֵׁ֣ם קׇדְשׁ֑וֹ יִ֝שְׂמַ֗ח לֵ֤ב ׀ מְבַקְשֵׁ֬י יְהֹוָֽה׃
3Exult in this holy name;let all who seek GOD rejoice.
ד׳דִּרְשׁ֣וּ יְהֹוָ֣ה וְעֻזּ֑וֹ בַּקְּשׁ֖וּ פָנָ֣יו תָּמִֽיד׃
4Turn to GOD, to divine might;adivine might I.e., the Ark; cf. Ps. 78.61; 132.8. seek God’s presence constantly.
ה׳זִכְר֗וּ נִפְלְאוֹתָ֥יו אֲשֶׁר־עָשָׂ֑ה מֹ֝פְתָ֗יו וּמִשְׁפְּטֵי־פִֽיו׃
5Remember the wonders that have been done,the portents, and judgments pronounced,
ו׳זֶ֭רַע אַבְרָהָ֣ם עַבְדּ֑וֹ בְּנֵ֖י יַעֲקֹ֣ב בְּחִירָֽיו׃
6O offspring of Abraham, God’s servant,O descendants of Jacob, the chosen ones.
ז׳ה֭וּא יְהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ בְּכׇל־הָ֝אָ֗רֶץ מִשְׁפָּטָֽיו׃
7The ETERNAL is our God,whose judgments are throughout the earth.
ח׳זָכַ֣ר לְעוֹלָ֣ם בְּרִית֑וֹ דָּבָ֥ר צִ֝וָּ֗ה לְאֶ֣לֶף דּֽוֹר׃
8[God] is ever mindful of the covenant,the promise given for a thousand generations,
ט׳אֲשֶׁ֣ר כָּ֭רַת אֶת־אַבְרָהָ֑ם וּשְׁב֖וּעָת֣וֹ לְיִשְׂחָֽק׃
9that was made with Abraham,sworn to Isaac,
י׳וַיַּעֲמִידֶ֣הָ לְיַעֲקֹ֣ב לְחֹ֑ק לְ֝יִשְׂרָאֵ֗ל בְּרִ֣ית עוֹלָֽם׃
10and confirmed in a decree for Jacob,for Israel, as an eternal covenant,
י״אלֵאמֹ֗ר לְךָ֗ אֶתֵּ֥ן אֶת־אֶֽרֶץ־כְּנָ֑עַן חֶ֝֗בֶל נַחֲלַתְכֶֽם׃
11saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaanas your allotted heritage.”
י״בבִּֽ֭הְיוֹתָם מְתֵ֣י מִסְפָּ֑ר כִּ֝מְעַ֗ט וְגָרִ֥ים בָּֽהּ׃
12They were then few in number,a mere handful, sojourning there,
י״גוַ֭יִּֽתְהַלְּכוּ מִגּ֣וֹי אֶל־גּ֑וֹי מִ֝מַּמְלָכָ֗ה אֶל־עַ֥ם אַחֵֽר׃
13wandering from nation to nation,from one kingdom to another.
י״דלֹא־הִנִּ֣יחַ אָדָ֣ם לְעׇשְׁקָ֑ם וַיּ֖וֹכַח עֲלֵיהֶ֣ם מְלָכִֽים׃
14None were allowed to oppress them;kings were reproved on their account,
ט״ואַֽל־תִּגְּע֥וּ בִמְשִׁיחָ֑י וְ֝לִנְבִיאַ֗י אַל־תָּרֵֽעוּ׃
15“Do not touch My anointed ones;do not harm My prophets.”
ט״זוַיִּקְרָ֣א רָ֭עָב עַל־הָאָ֑רֶץ כׇּֽל־מַטֵּה־לֶ֥חֶם שָׁבָֽר׃
16A famine was called down on the land,destroying every staff of bread.
י״זשָׁלַ֣ח לִפְנֵיהֶ֣ם אִ֑ישׁ לְ֝עֶ֗בֶד נִמְכַּ֥ר יוֹסֵֽף׃
17[God] sent ahead of them an agent—Joseph, sold into slavery.
י״חעִנּ֣וּ בַכֶּ֣בֶל (רגליו) [רַגְל֑וֹ] בַּ֝רְזֶ֗ל בָּ֣אָה נַפְשֽׁוֹ׃
18His feet were subjected to fetters;an iron collar was put on his neck.
י״טעַד־עֵ֥ת בֹּא־דְבָר֑וֹ אִמְרַ֖ת יְהֹוָ֣ה צְרָפָֽתְהוּ׃
19Until his prediction came true GOD’s decree purged him.
כ׳שָׁ֣לַח מֶ֭לֶךְ וַיַּתִּירֵ֑הוּ מֹשֵׁ֥ל עַ֝מִּ֗ים וַֽיְפַתְּחֵֽהוּ׃
20The king sent to have him freed;the ruler of nations released him.
כ״אשָׂמ֣וֹ אָד֣וֹן לְבֵית֑וֹ וּ֝מֹשֵׁ֗ל בְּכׇל־קִנְיָנֽוֹ׃
21He made him the lord of his household,empowered him over all his possessions,
כ״בלֶאְסֹ֣ר שָׂרָ֣יו בְּנַפְשׁ֑וֹ וּזְקֵנָ֥יו יְחַכֵּֽם׃
22to discipline his princes at will,to teach his elders wisdom.
כ״גוַיָּבֹ֣א יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל מִצְרָ֑יִם וְ֝יַעֲקֹ֗ב גָּ֣ר בְּאֶֽרֶץ־חָֽם׃
23Then Israel came to Egypt;Jacob sojourned in the land of Ham.
כ״דוַיֶּ֣פֶר אֶת־עַמּ֣וֹ מְאֹ֑ד וַ֝יַּעֲצִמֵ֗הוּ מִצָּרָֽיו׃
24[God] made that people very fruitful,more numerous than their foes,
כ״ההָפַ֣ךְ לִ֭בָּם לִשְׂנֹ֣א עַמּ֑וֹ לְ֝הִתְנַכֵּ֗ל בַּעֲבָדָֽיו׃
25then changed the heartbchanged the heart Or “Their heart changed.” [of the Egyptians] to hate this people,to plot against God’s servants.
כ״ושָׁ֭לַח מֹשֶׁ֣ה עַבְדּ֑וֹ אַ֝הֲרֹ֗ן אֲשֶׁ֣ר בָּחַר־בּֽוֹ׃
26Moses—God’s servant—was sent,and Aaron, who had been chosen.
כ״זשָֽׂמוּ־בָ֭ם דִּבְרֵ֣י אֹתוֹתָ֑יו וּ֝מֹפְתִ֗ים בְּאֶ֣רֶץ חָֽם׃
27They performed God’s signs among them,and wonders, against the land of Ham.
כ״חשָׁ֣לַֽח חֹ֭שֶׁךְ וַיַּחְשִׁ֑ךְ וְלֹא־מָ֝ר֗וּ אֶת־[דְּבָרֽוֹ] (דבריו)׃
28[God] sent darkness; it was very dark;did they not defy God’s word?cdid they not defy God’s word Meaning of Heb. uncertain.
כ״טהָפַ֣ךְ אֶת־מֵימֵיהֶ֣ם לְדָ֑ם וַ֝יָּ֗מֶת אֶת־דְּגָתָֽם׃
29Their waters were turned into bloodand their fish were killed.
ל׳שָׁרַ֣ץ אַרְצָ֣ם צְפַרְדְּעִ֑ים בְּ֝חַדְרֵ֗י מַלְכֵיהֶֽם׃
30Their land teemed with frogs,even the rooms of their king.
ל״אאָ֭מַר וַיָּבֹ֣א עָרֹ֑ב כִּ֝נִּ֗ים בְּכׇל־גְּבוּלָֽם׃
31Swarms of insects came at God’s command,lice, throughout their country.
ל״בנָתַ֣ן גִּשְׁמֵיהֶ֣ם בָּרָ֑ד אֵ֖שׁ לֶהָב֣וֹת בְּאַרְצָֽם׃
32They were given hail for rain,and flaming fire in their land.
ל״גוַיַּ֣ךְ גַּ֭פְנָם וּתְאֵנָתָ֑ם וַ֝יְשַׁבֵּ֗ר עֵ֣ץ גְּבוּלָֽם׃
33Their vines and fig trees were struck,the trees of their country broken down.
ל״דאָ֭מַר וַיָּבֹ֣א אַרְבֶּ֑ה וְ֝יֶ֗לֶק וְאֵ֣ין מִסְפָּֽר׃
34Locusts came at God’s command,grasshoppers without number.
ל״הוַיֹּ֣אכַל כׇּל־עֵ֣שֶׂב בְּאַרְצָ֑ם וַ֝יֹּ֗אכַל פְּרִ֣י אַדְמָתָֽם׃
35They devoured every green thing in the land;they consumed the produce of the soil.
ל״ווַיַּ֣ךְ כׇּל־בְּכ֣וֹר בְּאַרְצָ֑ם רֵ֝אשִׁ֗ית לְכׇל־אוֹנָֽם׃
36[God] struck down every [male] first-born in the land,the first fruit of their vigor.
ל״זוַֽ֭יּוֹצִיאֵם בְּכֶ֣סֶף וְזָהָ֑ב וְאֵ֖ין בִּשְׁבָטָ֣יו כּוֹשֵֽׁל׃
37IsraeldIsrael Heb. “them.” was led out with silver and gold;none among their tribes faltered.
ל״חשָׂמַ֣ח מִצְרַ֣יִם בְּצֵאתָ֑ם כִּֽי־נָפַ֖ל פַּחְדָּ֣ם עֲלֵיהֶֽם׃
38Egypt rejoiced when they left,for dread of IsraeleIsrael Heb. “them.” had fallen upon them.
ל״טפָּרַ֣שׂ עָנָ֣ן לְמָסָ֑ךְ וְ֝אֵ֗שׁ לְהָאִ֥יר לָֽיְלָה׃
39[God] spread a cloud for a cover,and fire to light up the night.
מ׳שָׁ֭אַל וַיָּבֵ֣א שְׂלָ֑ו וְלֶ֥חֶם שָׁ֝מַ֗יִם יַשְׂבִּיעֵֽם׃
40They asked, and were brought quail,and were satisfied with food from heaven.
מ״אפָּ֣תַח צ֭וּר וַיָּז֣וּבוּ מָ֑יִם הָ֝לְכ֗וּ בַּצִּיּ֥וֹת נָהָֽר׃
41[God] opened a rock so that water gushed forth;it flowed as a stream in the parched land.
מ״בכִּֽי־זָ֭כַר אֶת־דְּבַ֣ר קׇדְשׁ֑וֹ אֶֽת־אַבְרָהָ֥ם עַבְדּֽוֹ׃
42Mindful of the sacred promiseto Abraham—God’s servant,
מ״גוַיּוֹצִ֣א עַמּ֣וֹ בְשָׂשׂ֑וֹן בְּ֝רִנָּ֗ה אֶת־בְּחִירָֽיו׃
43The people were led out in gladness,God’s chosen ones with joyous song.
מ״דוַיִּתֵּ֣ן לָ֭הֶם אַרְצ֣וֹת גּוֹיִ֑ם וַעֲמַ֖ל לְאֻמִּ֣ים יִירָֽשׁוּ׃
44They were given the lands of nations;they inherited the wealth of peoples,
מ״הבַּעֲב֤וּר ׀ יִשְׁמְר֣וּ חֻ֭קָּיו וְתוֹרֹתָ֥יו יִנְצֹ֗רוּ הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ {פ}
45that they might keep God’s lawsand observe God’s teachings.Hallelujah.
