א׳הַ֥לְלוּ־יָ֨הּ ׀ הַ֭לְלוּ עַבְדֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה הַֽ֝לְל֗וּ אֶת־שֵׁ֥ם יְהֹוָֽה׃
1ש ת Hallelujah.O servants of GOD, give praise;praise the name of GOD.
ב׳יְהִ֤י שֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָ֣ה מְבֹרָ֑ךְ מֵ֝עַתָּ֗ה וְעַד־עוֹלָֽם׃
2Let GOD’s name be blessednow and forever.
ג׳מִמִּזְרַח־שֶׁ֥מֶשׁ עַד־מְבוֹא֑וֹ מְ֝הֻלָּ֗ל שֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָֽה׃
3From east to west GOD’s name is praised.
ד׳רָ֖ם עַל־כׇּל־גּוֹיִ֥ם ׀ יְהֹוָ֑ה עַ֖ל הַשָּׁמַ֣יִם כְּבוֹדֽוֹ׃
4GOD is exalted above all nations;God’s glory is above the heavens.
ה׳מִ֭י כַּיהֹוָ֣ה אֱלֹהֵ֑ינוּ הַֽמַּגְבִּיהִ֥י לָשָֽׁבֶת׃
5Who is like the ETERNAL our God—the One who, enthroned on high,
ו׳הַֽמַּשְׁפִּילִ֥י לִרְא֑וֹת בַּשָּׁמַ֥יִם וּבָאָֽרֶץ׃
6sees what is below,in heaven and on earth?
ז׳מְקִ֥ימִ֣י מֵעָפָ֣ר דָּ֑ל מֵ֝אַשְׁפֹּ֗ת יָרִ֥ים אֶבְיֽוֹן׃
7[God] raises the poor from the dust,lifts up the needy from the refuse heap
ח׳לְהוֹשִׁיבִ֥י עִם־נְדִיבִ֑ים עִ֝֗ם נְדִיבֵ֥י עַמּֽוֹ׃
8to set them with the nobles,with the nobles of God’s people,
ט׳מֽוֹשִׁיבִ֨י ׀ עֲקֶ֬רֶת הַבַּ֗יִת אֵֽם־הַבָּנִ֥ים שְׂמֵחָ֗ה הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ {פ}
9and sets the childless woman among her householdas a happy mother of children.Hallelujah.

א׳בְּצֵ֣את יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל מִמִּצְרָ֑יִם בֵּ֥ית יַ֝עֲקֹ֗ב מֵעַ֥ם לֹעֵֽז׃
1When Israel went forth from Egypt,the house of Jacob from a people of strange speech,
ב׳הָיְתָ֣ה יְהוּדָ֣ה לְקׇדְשׁ֑וֹ יִ֝שְׂרָאֵ֗ל מַמְשְׁלוֹתָֽיו׃
2Judah became God’s holy one,aholy one Or “sanctuary.” Israel, God’s dominion.
ג׳הַיָּ֣ם רָ֭אָה וַיָּנֹ֑ס הַ֝יַּרְדֵּ֗ן יִסֹּ֥ב לְאָחֽוֹר׃
3The sea saw them and fled,Jordan ran backward,
ד׳הֶ֭הָרִים רָקְד֣וּ כְאֵילִ֑ים גְּ֝בָע֗וֹת כִּבְנֵי־צֹֽאן׃
4mountains skipped like rams,hills like sheep.
ה׳מַה־לְּךָ֣ הַ֭יָּם כִּ֣י תָנ֑וּס הַ֝יַּרְדֵּ֗ן תִּסֹּ֥ב לְאָחֽוֹר׃
5What alarmed you, O sea, that you fled,Jordan, that you ran backward,
ו׳הֶ֭הָרִים תִּרְקְד֣וּ כְאֵילִ֑ים גְּ֝בָע֗וֹת כִּבְנֵי־צֹֽאן׃
6mountains, that you skipped like rams,hills, like sheep?
ז׳מִלִּפְנֵ֣י אָ֭דוֹן ח֣וּלִי אָ֑רֶץ מִ֝לִּפְנֵ֗י אֱל֣וֹהַּ יַעֲקֹֽב׃
7Tremble, O earth, at the presence of the Sovereign,at the presence of the God of Jacob,
ח׳הַהֹפְכִ֣י הַצּ֣וּר אֲגַם־מָ֑יִם חַ֝לָּמִ֗ישׁ לְמַעְיְנוֹ־מָֽיִם׃
8who turned the rock into a pool of water,the flinty rock into a fountain.
קט״ו
א׳לֹ֤א לָ֥נוּ יְהֹוָ֗ה לֹ֫א־לָ֥נוּ כִּֽי־לְ֭שִׁמְךָ תֵּ֣ן כָּב֑וֹד עַל־חַ֝סְדְּךָ֗ עַל־אֲמִתֶּֽךָ׃
1Not to us, O ETERNAL One, not to usbut to Your name bring gloryfor the sake of Your love and Your faithfulness.
ב׳לָ֭מָּה יֹאמְר֣וּ הַגּוֹיִ֑ם אַיֵּה־נָ֝֗א אֱלֹהֵיהֶֽם׃
2Let the nations not say,“Where, now, is their God?”
ג׳וֵאלֹהֵ֥ינוּ בַשָּׁמָ֑יִם כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁר־חָפֵ֣ץ עָשָֽׂה׃
3when our God is in heavenand whatever [God] wants is accomplished.
ד׳עֲֽ֭צַבֵּיהֶם כֶּ֣סֶף וְזָהָ֑ב מַ֝עֲשֵׂ֗ה יְדֵ֣י אָדָֽם׃
4aCf. Ps. 135.15–20. Their idols are silver and gold,the work of human hands.
ה׳פֶּֽה־לָ֭הֶם וְלֹ֣א יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ עֵינַ֥יִם לָ֝הֶ֗ם וְלֹ֣א יִרְאֽוּ׃
5They have mouths, but cannot speak,eyes, but cannot see;
ו׳אׇזְנַ֣יִם לָ֭הֶם וְלֹ֣א יִשְׁמָ֑עוּ אַ֥ף לָ֝הֶ֗ם וְלֹ֣א יְרִיחֽוּן׃
6they have ears, but cannot hear,noses, but cannot smell;
ז׳יְדֵיהֶ֤ם ׀ וְלֹ֬א יְמִישׁ֗וּן רַ֭גְלֵיהֶם וְלֹ֣א יְהַלֵּ֑כוּ לֹא־יֶ֝הְגּ֗וּ בִּגְרוֹנָֽם׃
7they have hands, but cannot touch,feet, but cannot walk;they can make no sound in their throats.
ח׳כְּ֭מוֹהֶם יִהְי֣וּ עֹשֵׂיהֶ֑ם כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁר־בֹּטֵ֣חַ בָּהֶֽם׃
8Those who fashion them,all who trust in them,shall become like them.
ט׳יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל בְּטַ֣ח בַּיהֹוָ֑ה עֶזְרָ֖ם וּמָגִנָּ֣ם הֽוּא׃
9O Israel, trust in GOD—who is yourbyour Heb. “their.” help and shield.
י׳בֵּ֣ית אַ֭הֲרֹן בִּטְח֣וּ בַיהֹוָ֑ה עֶזְרָ֖ם וּמָגִנָּ֣ם הֽוּא׃
10O house of Aaron, trust in GOD—who is yourcyour See note at v. 9. help and shield.
י״איִרְאֵ֣י יְ֭הֹוָה בִּטְח֣וּ בַיהֹוָ֑ה עֶזְרָ֖ם וּמָגִנָּ֣ם הֽוּא׃
11O you who fear GOD, trust in GOD—who is yourdyour See note at v. 9. help and shield.
י״ביְהֹוָה֮ זְכָרָ֢נוּ יְבָ֫רֵ֥ךְ יְ֭בָרֵךְ אֶת־בֵּ֣ית יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל יְ֝בָרֵ֗ךְ אֶת־בֵּ֥ית אַהֲרֹֽן׃
12GOD, mindful of us, will bless us— blessing the house of Israel,blessing the house of Aaron,
י״גיְ֭בָרֵךְ יִרְאֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה הַ֝קְּטַנִּ֗ים עִם־הַגְּדֹלִֽים׃
13and blessing those who revere GOD,small and great alike.
י״דיֹסֵ֣ף יְהֹוָ֣ה עֲלֵיכֶ֑ם עֲ֝לֵיכֶ֗ם וְעַל־בְּנֵיכֶֽם׃
14May GOD increase your numbers,yours and your children’s also.
ט״ובְּרוּכִ֣ים אַ֭תֶּם לַיהֹוָ֑ה עֹ֝שֵׂ֗ה שָׁמַ֥יִם וָאָֽרֶץ׃
15May you be blessed by GOD,Maker of heaven and earth.
ט״זהַשָּׁמַ֣יִם שָׁ֭מַיִם לַיהֹוָ֑ה וְ֝הָאָ֗רֶץ נָתַ֥ן לִבְנֵי־אָדָֽם׃
16The heavens belong to GOD,but the earth was given over to humankind.
י״זלֹ֣א הַ֭מֵּתִים יְהַֽלְלוּ־יָ֑הּ וְ֝לֹ֗א כׇּל־יֹרְדֵ֥י דוּמָֽה׃
17The dead cannot praise Yah,eYah See note at 68.5. nor any who go down into silence.
י״חוַאֲנַ֤חְנוּ ׀ נְבָ֘רֵ֤ךְ יָ֗הּ מֵעַתָּ֥ה וְעַד־עוֹלָ֗ם הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ {פ}
18But we will bless Yahnow and forever.Hallelujah.
קט״ז
א׳אָ֭הַבְתִּי כִּי־יִשְׁמַ֥ע ׀ יְהֹוָ֑ה אֶת־ק֝וֹלִ֗י תַּחֲנוּנָֽי׃
1I love the ETERNAL One for hearing my voice, my pleas;aI love the ETERNAL ONE / for hearing my voice, my pleas Heb. transposed for clarity; in contrast to others “I would love that the LORD hear,” etc.
ב׳כִּֽי־הִטָּ֣ה אׇזְנ֣וֹ לִ֑י וּבְיָמַ֥י אֶקְרָֽא׃
2for turning an ear to mewhenever I call.
ג׳אֲפָפ֤וּנִי ׀ חֶבְלֵי־מָ֗וֶת וּמְצָרֵ֣י שְׁא֣וֹל מְצָא֑וּנִי צָרָ֖ה וְיָג֣וֹן אֶמְצָֽא׃
3The bonds of death encompassed me;the torments of Sheol overtook me.I came upon trouble and sorrow
ד׳וּבְשֵֽׁם־יְהֹוָ֥ה אֶקְרָ֑א אָנָּ֥ה יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה מַלְּטָ֥ה נַפְשִֽׁי׃
4and I invoked GOD’s name,“O ETERNAL One, save my life!”
ה׳חַנּ֣וּן יְהֹוָ֣ה וְצַדִּ֑יק וֵ֖אלֹהֵ֣ינוּ מְרַחֵֽם׃
5GOD is gracious and beneficent;our God is compassionate.
ו׳שֹׁמֵ֣ר פְּתָאיִ֣ם יְהֹוָ֑ה דַּ֝לֹּתִ֗י וְלִ֣י יְהוֹשִֽׁיעַ׃
6GOD protects the simple;I was saved, after having been brought low.
ז׳שׁוּבִ֣י נַ֭פְשִׁי לִמְנוּחָ֑יְכִי כִּֽי־יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה גָּמַ֥ל עָלָֽיְכִי׃
7Be at rest, once again, O my soul,for GOD has been good to you.
ח׳כִּ֤י חִלַּ֥צְתָּ נַפְשִׁ֗י מִ֫מָּ֥וֶת אֶת־עֵינִ֥י מִן־דִּמְעָ֑ה אֶת־רַגְלִ֥י מִדֶּֽחִי׃
8YoubYou I.e., God. have delivered me from death,my eyes from tears,my feet from stumbling.
ט׳אֶ֭תְהַלֵּךְ לִפְנֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה בְּ֝אַרְצ֗וֹת הַחַיִּֽים׃
9I shall walk before GOD in the lands of the living.
י׳הֶ֭אֱמַנְתִּי כִּ֣י אֲדַבֵּ֑ר אֲ֝נִ֗י עָנִ֥יתִי מְאֹֽד׃
10I trust [in GOD];out of great suffering I spokecI trust … I spoke Meaning of Heb. uncertain.
י״אאֲ֭נִי אָמַ֣רְתִּי בְחׇפְזִ֑י כׇּֽל־הָאָדָ֥ם כֹּזֵֽב׃
11and said rashly,“All people are false.”
י״במָה־אָשִׁ֥יב לַיהֹוָ֑ה כׇּֽל־תַּגְמוּל֥וֹהִי עָלָֽי׃
12How can I repay GOD for all the bounties given to me?
י״גכּוֹס־יְשׁוּע֥וֹת אֶשָּׂ֑א וּבְשֵׁ֖ם יְהֹוָ֣ה אֶקְרָֽא׃
13I raise the cup of deliveranceand invoke GOD’s name.
י״דנְ֭דָרַי לַיהֹוָ֣ה אֲשַׁלֵּ֑ם נֶגְדָה־נָּ֝֗א לְכׇל־עַמּֽוֹ׃
14I will pay my vows to GOD in the presence of all those assembled.
ט״ויָ֭קָר בְּעֵינֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה הַ֝מָּ֗וְתָה לַחֲסִידָֽיו׃
15The death of God’s faithful onesis grievous in GOD’s sight.
ט״זאָנָּ֣ה יְהֹוָה֮ כִּי־אֲנִ֢י עַ֫בְדֶּ֥ךָ אֲֽנִי־עַ֭בְדְּךָ בֶּן־אֲמָתֶ֑ךָ פִּ֝תַּ֗חְתָּ לְמֽוֹסֵרָֽי׃
16O ETERNAL One,I am Your servant,Your servant, the child of Your maidservant;You have undone the cords that bound me.
י״זלְֽךָ־אֶ֭זְבַּח זֶ֣בַח תּוֹדָ֑ה וּבְשֵׁ֖ם יְהֹוָ֣ה אֶקְרָֽא׃
17I will sacrifice a thank offering to Youand invoke GOD’s name.
י״חנְ֭דָרַי לַיהֹוָ֣ה אֲשַׁלֵּ֑ם נֶגְדָה־נָּ֝֗א לְכׇל־עַמּֽוֹ׃
18I will pay my vows to GOD in the presence of all those assembled,
י״טבְּחַצְר֤וֹת ׀ בֵּ֤ית יְהֹוָ֗ה בְּֽת֘וֹכֵ֤כִי יְֽרוּשָׁלָ֗͏ִם הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ {פ}
19in the courts of GOD’s house,in the midst ofdof In contrast to others “of you.” Jerusalem.Hallelujah.
קי״ז
א׳הַֽלְל֣וּ אֶת־יְ֭הֹוָה כׇּל־גּוֹיִ֑ם שַׁ֝בְּח֗וּהוּ כׇּל־הָאֻמִּֽים׃
1Praise GOD, all you nations;extol [God], all you peoples,
ב׳כִּ֥י־גָ֘בַ֤ר עָלֵ֨ינוּ ׀ חַסְדּ֗וֹ וֶאֱמֶת־יְהֹוָ֥ה לְעוֹלָ֗ם הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ {פ}
2for great is this steadfast love toward us; GOD’s faithfulness endures forever.Hallelujah.
קי״ח
א׳הוֹד֣וּ לַיהֹוָ֣ה כִּי־ט֑וֹב כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
1Praise GOD, who is good—whose steadfast love is eternal.
ב׳יֹאמַר־נָ֥א יִשְׂרָאֵ֑ל כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
2Let Israel declare,“God’s steadfast love is eternal.”
ג׳יֹאמְרוּ־נָ֥א בֵֽית־אַהֲרֹ֑ן כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
3Let the house of Aaron declare,“God’s steadfast love is eternal.”
ד׳יֹאמְרוּ־נָ֭א יִרְאֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃
4Let those who fear GOD declare,“God’s steadfast love is eternal.”
ה׳מִֽן־הַ֭מֵּצַר קָרָ֣אתִי יָּ֑הּ עָנָ֖נִי בַמֶּרְחָ֣ב יָֽהּ׃
5In distress I called on Yah;aYah See note at 68.5. Yah answered me and brought me relief.
ו׳יְהֹוָ֣ה לִ֭י לֹ֣א אִירָ֑א מַה־יַּעֲשֶׂ֖ה לִ֣י אָדָֽם׃
6GOD is on my side,I have no fear;what can mortals do to me?
ז׳יְהֹוָ֣ה לִ֭י בְּעֹזְרָ֑י וַ֝אֲנִ֗י אֶרְאֶ֥ה בְשֹׂנְאָֽי׃
7With GOD on my side as my helper,I will see the downfall of my foes.
ח׳ט֗וֹב לַחֲס֥וֹת בַּיהֹוָ֑ה מִ֝בְּטֹ֗חַ בָּאָדָֽם׃
8It is better to take refuge in GOD than to trust in mortals;
ט׳ט֗וֹב לַחֲס֥וֹת בַּיהֹוָ֑ה מִ֝בְּטֹ֗חַ בִּנְדִיבִֽים׃
9it is better to take refuge in GOD than to trust in the great.
י׳כׇּל־גּוֹיִ֥ם סְבָב֑וּנִי בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה כִּ֣י אֲמִילַֽם׃
10All nations have beset me;by GOD’s name I will surely cut them down.bcut them down Meaning of ʼamilam in this and the following two verses uncertain.
י״אסַבּ֥וּנִי גַם־סְבָב֑וּנִי בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה כִּ֣י אֲמִילַֽם׃
11They beset me, they surround me;by GOD’s name I will surely cut them down.
י״בסַבּ֤וּנִי כִדְבוֹרִ֗ים דֹּ֭עֲכוּ כְּאֵ֣שׁ קוֹצִ֑ים בְּשֵׁ֥ם יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה כִּ֣י אֲמִילַֽם׃
12They have beset me like bees;they shall be extinguished like burning thorns;by GOD’s name I will surely cut them down.
י״גדַּחֹ֣ה דְחִיתַ֣נִי לִנְפֹּ֑ל וַ֖יהֹוָ֣ה עֲזָרָֽנִי׃
13YoucYou I.e., the enemy. pressed me hard,I nearly fell;but GOD helped me.
י״דעׇזִּ֣י וְזִמְרָ֣ת יָ֑הּ וַֽיְהִי־לִ֝֗י לִישׁוּעָֽה׃
14Yah is my strength and might,and has become my deliverance.
ט״וק֤וֹל ׀ רִנָּ֬ה וִישׁוּעָ֗ה בְּאׇהֳלֵ֥י צַדִּיקִ֑ים יְמִ֥ין יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה עֹ֣שָׂה חָֽיִל׃
15The tents of the victoriousdvictorious Or “righteous.” resound with joyous shouts of deliverance,“GOD’s right hand is triumphant!
ט״זיְמִ֣ין יְ֭הֹוָה רוֹמֵמָ֑ה יְמִ֥ין יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה עֹ֣שָׂה חָֽיִל׃
16GOD’s right hand is exalted! GOD’s right hand is triumphant!”
י״זלֹא־אָמ֥וּת כִּֽי־אֶחְיֶ֑ה וַ֝אֲסַפֵּ֗ר מַעֲשֵׂ֥י יָֽהּ׃
17I shall not die but liveand proclaim the works of Yah.
י״חיַסֹּ֣ר יִסְּרַ֣נִּי יָּ֑הּ וְ֝לַמָּ֗וֶת לֹ֣א נְתָנָֽנִי׃
18Yah punished me severely,but did not hand me over to death.
י״טפִּתְחוּ־לִ֥י שַׁעֲרֵי־צֶ֑דֶק אָבֹא־בָ֝֗ם אוֹדֶ֥ה יָֽהּ׃
19Open the gates of victoryevictory Or “righteousness.” for methat I may enter them and praise Yah.
כ׳זֶה־הַשַּׁ֥עַר לַיהֹוָ֑ה צַ֝דִּיקִ֗ים יָבֹ֥אוּ בֽוֹ׃
20This is the gateway to GOD—the victoriousfvictorious Or “righteous.” shall enter through it.
כ״אא֭וֹדְךָ כִּ֣י עֲנִיתָ֑נִי וַתְּהִי־לִ֝֗י לִישׁוּעָֽה׃
21I praise You, for You have answered me,and have become my deliverance.
כ״באֶ֭בֶן מָאֲס֣וּ הַבּוֹנִ֑ים הָ֝יְתָ֗ה לְרֹ֣אשׁ פִּנָּֽה׃
22The stone that the builders rejectedhas become the chief cornerstone.
כ״גמֵאֵ֣ת יְ֭הֹוָה הָ֣יְתָה זֹּ֑את הִ֖יא נִפְלָ֣את בְּעֵינֵֽינוּ׃
23This is GOD’s doing;it is marvelous in our sight.
כ״דזֶה־הַ֭יּוֹם עָשָׂ֣ה יְהֹוָ֑ה נָגִ֖ילָה וְנִשְׂמְחָ֣ה בֽוֹ׃
24This is the day that GOD has made—let us exult and rejoice on it.
כ״האָנָּ֣א יְ֭הֹוָה הוֹשִׁ֘יעָ֥ה נָּ֑א אָנָּ֥א יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה הַצְלִ֘יחָ֥ה נָּֽא׃
25O ETERNAL One, deliver us!O ETERNAL One, let us prosper!
כ״ובָּר֣וּךְ הַ֭בָּא בְּשֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָ֑ה בֵּ֝רַ֥כְנוּכֶ֗ם מִבֵּ֥ית יְהֹוָֽה׃
26May everyone who enters be blessed in the name of GOD;we bless you from the House of GOD.
כ״זאֵ֤ל ׀ יְהֹוָה֮ וַיָּ֢אֶ֫ר לָ֥נוּ אִסְרוּ־חַ֥ג בַּעֲבֹתִ֑ים עַד־קַ֝רְנ֗וֹת הַמִּזְבֵּֽחַ׃
27The ETERNAL is God,who has given us light;bind the festal offering to the horns of the altar with cords.gbind … with cords Meaning of Heb. uncertain.
כ״חאֵלִ֣י אַתָּ֣ה וְאוֹדֶ֑ךָּ אֱ֝לֹהַ֗י אֲרוֹמְמֶֽךָּ׃
28You are my God and I will praise You;You are my God and I will extol You.
כ״טהוֹד֣וּ לַיהֹוָ֣ה כִּי־ט֑וֹב כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ {פ}
29Praise GOD, who is good—whose steadfast love is eternal.
