א׳לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ עַל־שׁוּשַׁ֣ן עֵד֑וּת מִכְתָּ֖ם לְדָוִ֣ד לְלַמֵּֽד׃

ב׳בְּהַצּוֹת֨וֹ ׀ אֶ֥ת־אֲרַ֣ם נַהֲרַיִם֮ וְאֶת־אֲרַ֢ם צ֫וֹבָ֥ה וַיָּ֤שׇׁב יוֹאָ֗ב וַיַּ֣ךְ אֶת־אֱד֣וֹם בְּגֵיא־מֶ֑לַח שְׁנֵ֖ים עָשָׂ֣ר אָֽלֶף׃
2when he fought with Aram-naharaim and Aram-zobah, and Joab returned and defeated Edom—[an army] of twelve thousand men—in the Valley of Salt.bCf. 2 Sam. 8; 1 Chron. 18.
ג׳אֱ֭לֹהִים זְנַחְתָּ֣נוּ פְרַצְתָּ֑נוּ אָ֝נַ֗פְתָּ תְּשׁ֣וֹבֵֽב לָֽנוּ׃
3O God, You have rejected us,You have made a breach in us;You have been angry;restore us!
ד׳הִרְעַ֣שְׁתָּה אֶ֣רֶץ פְּצַמְתָּ֑הּ רְפָ֖ה שְׁבָרֶ֣יהָ כִי־מָֽטָה׃
4You have made the land quake;You have torn it open.Mend its fissures,for it is collapsing.
ה׳הִרְאִ֣יתָ עַמְּךָ֣ קָשָׁ֑ה הִ֝שְׁקִיתָ֗נוּ יַ֣יִן תַּרְעֵלָֽה׃
5You have made Your people suffer hardship;You have given us wine that makes us reel.cYou have given us wine that makes us reel Or “You have sated Your people with a bitter draft.”
ו׳נָ֘תַ֤תָּה לִּירֵאֶ֣יךָ נֵּ֭ס לְהִתְנוֹסֵ֑ס מִ֝פְּנֵ֗י קֹ֣שֶׁט סֶֽלָה׃

ז׳לְ֭מַעַן יֵחָלְצ֣וּן יְדִידֶ֑יךָ הוֹשִׁ֖יעָה יְמִינְךָ֣ (ועננו) [וַעֲנֵֽנִי]׃
7eCf. Ps. 108.7–14. That those whom You love might be rescued,deliver with Your right hand and answer me.
ח׳אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ דִּבֶּ֥ר בְּקׇדְשׁ֗וֹ אֶ֫עְלֹ֥זָה אֲחַלְּקָ֥ה שְׁכֶ֑ם וְעֵ֖מֶק סֻכּ֣וֹת אֲמַדֵּֽד׃
8God promised in the sanctuaryfin the sanctuary Or “by God’s holiness.” that I would exultingly divide up Shechem,and measure the Valley of Sukkoth;
ט׳לִ֤י גִלְעָ֨ד ׀ וְלִ֬י מְנַשֶּׁ֗ה וְ֭אֶפְרַיִם מָע֣וֹז רֹאשִׁ֑י יְ֝הוּדָ֗ה מְחֹֽקְקִֽי׃
9Gilead and Manasseh would be mine,Ephraim my chief stronghold,Judah my scepter;
י׳מוֹאָ֤ב ׀ סִ֬יר רַחְצִ֗י עַל־אֱ֭דוֹם אַשְׁלִ֣יךְ נַעֲלִ֑י עָ֝לַ֗י פְּלֶ֣שֶׁת הִתְרוֹעָֽעִי׃
10Moab would be my washbasin;on Edom I would cast my shoe;acclaim me, O Philistia!
י״אמִ֣י יֹ֭בִלֵנִי עִ֣יר מָצ֑וֹר מִ֖י נָחַ֣נִי עַד־אֱדֽוֹם׃
11Would that I were brought to the bastion!Would that I were led to Edom!
י״בהֲלֹֽא־אַתָּ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֣ים זְנַחְתָּ֑נוּ וְֽלֹא־תֵצֵ֥א אֱ֝לֹהִ֗ים בְּצִבְאוֹתֵֽינוּ׃
12But You have rejected us, O God;God, You do not march with our armies.
י״גהָֽבָה־לָּ֣נוּ עֶזְרָ֣ת מִצָּ֑ר וְ֝שָׁ֗וְא תְּשׁוּעַ֥ת אָדָֽם׃
13Grant us Your aid against the foe,for human help is worthless.
י״דבֵּאלֹהִ֥ים נַֽעֲשֶׂה־חָ֑יִל וְ֝ה֗וּא יָב֥וּס צָרֵֽינוּ׃ {פ}
14We shall triumph with God,who will trample our foes.

א׳לַמְנַצֵּ֬חַ ׀ עַֽל־נְגִינַ֬ת לְדָוִֽד׃

ב׳שִׁמְעָ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהִים רִנָּתִ֑י הַ֝קְשִׁ֗יבָה תְּפִלָּתִֽי׃
2Hear my cry, O God,heed my prayer.
ג׳מִקְצֵ֤ה הָאָ֨רֶץ ׀ אֵלֶ֣יךָ אֶ֭קְרָא בַּעֲטֹ֣ף לִבִּ֑י בְּצוּר־יָר֖וּם מִמֶּ֣נִּי תַנְחֵֽנִי׃
3From the end of the earth I call to You;when my heart is faint,You lead me to a rock that is high above me.
ד׳כִּֽי־הָיִ֣יתָ מַחְסֶ֣ה לִ֑י מִגְדַּל־עֹ֝֗ז מִפְּנֵ֥י אוֹיֵֽב׃
4For You have been my refuge,a tower of strength against the enemy.
ה׳אָג֣וּרָה בְ֭אׇהׇלְךָ עוֹלָמִ֑ים אֶ֥חֱסֶ֨ה בְסֵ֖תֶר כְּנָפֶ֣יךָ סֶּֽלָה׃
5O that I might dwell in Your tent forever,take refuge under Your protecting wings. Selah.
ו׳כִּֽי־אַתָּ֣ה אֱ֭לֹהִים שָׁמַ֣עְתָּ לִנְדָרָ֑י נָתַ֥תָּ יְ֝רֻשַּׁ֗ת יִרְאֵ֥י שְׁמֶֽךָ׃
6O God, You have heard my vows;grant the requestarequest Taking the noun yrsht as an alternate form of ʼrsht; cf. Ps. 21.3. of those who fear Your name.
ז׳יָמִ֣ים עַל־יְמֵי־מֶ֣לֶךְ תּוֹסִ֑יף שְׁ֝נוֹתָ֗יו כְּמוֹ־דֹ֥ר וָדֹֽר׃
7Add days to the days of the king;may his years extend through generations;
ח׳יֵשֵׁ֣ב ע֭וֹלָם לִפְנֵ֣י אֱלֹהִ֑ים חֶ֥סֶד וֶ֝אֱמֶ֗ת מַ֣ן יִנְצְרֻֽהוּ׃
8may he dwell in God’s presence forever;appointbappoint Meaning of Heb. uncertain. steadfast love to guard him.
ט׳כֵּ֤ן אֲזַמְּרָ֣ה שִׁמְךָ֣ לָעַ֑ד לְֽשַׁלְּמִ֥י נְ֝דָרַ֗י י֣וֹם ׀ יֽוֹם׃ {פ}
9So I will sing hymns to Your name forever,as I fulfill my vows day after day.

ב׳אַ֣ךְ אֶל־אֱ֭לֹהִים דּֽוּמִיָּ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֑י מִ֝מֶּ֗נּוּ יְשׁוּעָתִֽי׃
2Truly my soul waits quietly for God,from whom my deliverance comes.
ג׳אַךְ־ה֣וּא צ֭וּרִי וִישׁוּעָתִ֑י מִ֝שְׂגַּבִּ֗י לֹא־אֶמּ֥וֹט רַבָּֽה׃
3Truly [God] is my rock and deliverance,my haven; I shall never be shaken.
ד׳עַד־אָ֤נָה ׀ תְּה֥וֹתְת֣וּ עַל־אִישׁ֮ תְּרָצְּח֢וּ כֻ֫לְּכֶ֥ם כְּקִ֥יר נָט֑וּי גָּ֝דֵ֗ר הַדְּחוּיָֽה׃

ה׳אַ֤ךְ מִשְּׂאֵת֨וֹ ׀ יָ֥עֲצ֣וּ לְהַדִּיחַ֮ יִרְצ֢וּ כָ֫זָ֥ב בְּפִ֥יו יְבָרֵ֑כוּ וּ֝בְקִרְבָּ֗ם יְקַֽלְלוּ־סֶֽלָה׃
5You lay plans to topple them from their status;you delight in falsehood;you bless with your mouths,while inwardly you curse.cYou…your…you Heb. “They…their…they.” Selah.
ו׳אַ֣ךְ לֵ֭אלֹהִים דּ֣וֹמִּי נַפְשִׁ֑י כִּֽי־מִ֝מֶּ֗נּוּ תִּקְוָתִֽי׃
6Truly, wait quietly for God, O my soul,from whom comes my hope.
ז׳אַךְ־ה֣וּא צ֭וּרִי וִישׁוּעָתִ֑י מִ֝שְׂגַּבִּ֗י לֹ֣א אֶמּֽוֹט׃
7[God] is my rock and deliverance,my haven; I shall not be shaken.
ח׳עַל־אֱ֭לֹהִים יִשְׁעִ֣י וּכְבוֹדִ֑י צוּר־עֻזִּ֥י מַ֝חְסִ֗י בֵּאלֹהִֽים׃
8I rely on God, my deliverance and glory,my rock of strength;in God is my refuge.
ט׳בִּטְח֘וּ־ב֤וֹ בְכׇל־עֵ֨ת ׀ עָ֗ם שִׁפְכֽוּ־לְפָנָ֥יו לְבַבְכֶ֑ם אֱלֹהִ֖ים מַחֲסֶה־לָּ֣נוּ סֶֽלָה׃
9Trust in [God] at all times, O people;pour out your hearts before the Holy One;God is our refuge. Selah.
י׳אַ֤ךְ ׀ הֶ֥בֶל בְּנֵֽי־אָדָם֮ כָּזָ֢ב בְּנֵ֫י־אִ֥ישׁ בְּמֹאזְנַ֥יִם לַעֲל֑וֹת הֵ֝֗מָּה מֵהֶ֥בֶל יָֽחַד׃
10Humans are mere breath;mortals, an illusiondHumans are mere breath; / mortals, an illusion Or “The common people are mere breath; / even the notables, an illusion—”; or “Mortals are mere breath; / partisans, an illusion—.”—placed on a scale all together,they weigh even less than a breath.
י״אאַל־תִּבְטְח֣וּ בְעֹשֶׁק֮ וּבְגָזֵ֢ל אַל־תֶּ֫הְבָּ֥לוּ חַ֤יִל ׀ כִּֽי־יָנ֑וּב אַל־תָּשִׁ֥יתוּ לֵֽב׃
11Do not trust in violence,or put false hopes in robbery;if force bears fruit pay it no mind.
י״באַחַ֤ת ׀ דִּבֶּ֬ר אֱלֹהִ֗ים שְׁתַּֽיִם־ז֥וּ שָׁמָ֑עְתִּי כִּ֥י עֹ֝֗ז לֵֽאלֹהִֽים׃
12One thing God has spoken;two things have I heard:that might belongs to God,
י״גוּלְךָֽ־אֲדֹנָ֥י חָ֑סֶד כִּֽי־אַתָּ֨ה תְשַׁלֵּ֖ם לְאִ֣ישׁ כְּֽמַעֲשֵֽׂהוּ׃ {פ}
13and faithfulness is Yours, O my Sovereign,to reward everyone according to their deeds.

א׳מִזְמ֥וֹר לְדָוִ֑ד בִּ֝הְיוֹת֗וֹ בְּמִדְבַּ֥ר יְהוּדָֽה׃
1A psalm of David, when he was in the Wilderness of Judah.
ב׳אֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ אֵלִ֥י אַתָּ֗ה אֲֽשַׁ֫חֲרֶ֥ךָּ צָמְאָ֬ה לְךָ֨ ׀ נַפְשִׁ֗י כָּמַ֣הּ לְךָ֣ בְשָׂרִ֑י בְּאֶרֶץ־צִיָּ֖ה וְעָיֵ֣ף בְּלִי־מָֽיִם׃
2God, You are my God;I search for You,my soul thirsts for You,my body yearns for You,as a parched and thirsty land that has no water.
ג׳כֵּ֭ן בַּקֹּ֣דֶשׁ חֲזִיתִ֑ךָ לִרְא֥וֹת עֻ֝זְּךָ֗ וּכְבוֹדֶֽךָ׃
3I shall behold You in the sanctuary,and see Your might and glory,
ד׳כִּי־ט֣וֹב חַ֭סְדְּךָ מֵחַיִּ֗ים שְׂפָתַ֥י יְשַׁבְּחֽוּנְךָ׃
4Truly Your faithfulness is better than life;my lips declare Your praise.
ה׳כֵּ֣ן אֲבָרֶכְךָ֣ בְחַיָּ֑י בְּ֝שִׁמְךָ֗ אֶשָּׂ֥א כַפָּֽי׃
5I bless You all my life;I lift up my hands, invoking Your name.
ו׳כְּמ֤וֹ חֵ֣לֶב וָ֭דֶשֶׁן תִּשְׂבַּ֣ע נַפְשִׁ֑י וְשִׂפְתֵ֥י רְ֝נָנ֗וֹת יְהַלֶּל־פִּֽי׃
6I am sated as with a rich feast,arich feast Lit. “suet and fat.” I sing praises with joyful lips
ז׳אִם־זְכַרְתִּ֥יךָ עַל־יְצוּעָ֑י בְּ֝אַשְׁמֻר֗וֹת אֶהְגֶּה־בָּֽךְ׃
7when I call You to mind upon my bed,when I think of You in the watches of the night—
ח׳כִּֽי־הָיִ֣יתָ עֶזְרָ֣תָה לִּ֑י וּבְצֵ֖ל כְּנָפֶ֣יךָ אֲרַנֵּֽן׃
8for You are my help,and in the shadow of Your wingsI shout for joy.
ט׳דָּבְקָ֣ה נַפְשִׁ֣י אַחֲרֶ֑יךָ בִּ֝֗י תָּמְכָ֥ה יְמִינֶֽךָ׃
9My soul is attached to You;Your right hand supports me.
י׳וְהֵ֗מָּה לְ֭שׁוֹאָה יְבַקְשׁ֣וּ נַפְשִׁ֑י יָ֝בֹ֗אוּ בְּֽתַחְתִּיּ֥וֹת הָאָֽרֶץ׃
10May those who seek to destroy my lifeenter the depths of the earth.
י״איַגִּירֻ֥הוּ עַל־יְדֵי־חָ֑רֶב מְנָ֖ת שֻׁעָלִ֣ים יִהְיֽוּ׃
11May they be gutted by the sword;may they be prey to jackals.
י״בוְהַמֶּלֶךְ֮ יִשְׂמַ֢ח בֵּאלֹ֫הִ֥ים יִ֭תְהַלֵּל כׇּל־הַנִּשְׁבָּ֣ע בּ֑וֹ כִּ֥י יִ֝סָּכֵ֗ר פִּ֣י דוֹבְרֵי־שָֽׁקֶר׃ {פ}
12But the king shall rejoice in God;all who swear by [God] shall exult,when the mouth of liars is stopped.

ב׳שְׁמַע־אֱלֹהִ֣ים קוֹלִ֣י בְשִׂיחִ֑י מִפַּ֥חַד א֝וֹיֵ֗ב תִּצֹּ֥ר חַיָּֽי׃
2Hear my voice, O God, when I plead;guard my life from the enemy’s terror.
ג׳תַּ֭סְתִּירֵנִי מִסּ֣וֹד מְרֵעִ֑ים מֵ֝רִגְשַׁ֗ת פֹּ֣עֲלֵי אָֽוֶן׃
3Hide me from a band of evildoers,from a crowd of wrongdoers,
ד׳אֲשֶׁ֤ר שָׁנְנ֣וּ כַחֶ֣רֶב לְשׁוֹנָ֑ם דָּרְכ֥וּ חִ֝צָּ֗ם דָּבָ֥ר מָֽר׃
4who whet their tongues like swords;they aim their arrows—cruel words—
ה׳לִירֹ֣ת בַּמִּסְתָּרִ֣ים תָּ֑ם פִּתְאֹ֥ם יֹ֝רֻ֗הוּ וְלֹ֣א יִירָֽאוּ׃
5to shoot from hiding at someone blameless,shooting suddenly and without fear.
ו׳יְחַזְּקוּ־לָ֨מוֹ ׀ דָּ֘בָ֤ר רָ֗ע יְֽ֭סַפְּרוּ לִטְמ֣וֹן מוֹקְשִׁ֑ים אָ֝מְר֗וּ מִ֣י יִרְאֶה־לָּֽמוֹ׃
6They arm themselves with an evil word;when they speak, it is to conceal traps;aThey arm themselves … conceal traps Meaning of Heb. uncertain. they think, “Who will see them?”
ז׳יַ֥חְפְּֽשׂוּ־עוֹלֹ֗ת תַּ֭מְנוּ חֵ֣פֶשׂ מְחֻפָּ֑שׂ וְקֶ֥רֶב אִ֝֗ישׁ וְלֵ֣ב עָמֹֽק׃

ח׳וַיֹּרֵ֗ם אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים חֵ֥ץ פִּתְא֑וֹם הָ֝י֗וּ מַכּוֹתָֽם׃
8God shall shoot them with arrows;they shall be struck down suddenly.
ט׳וַיַּכְשִׁיל֣וּהוּ עָלֵ֣ימוֹ לְשׁוֹנָ֑ם יִ֝תְנֹדְד֗וּ כׇּל־רֹ֥אֵה בָֽם׃
9Their tongue shall be their downfall;all who see them shall recoil in horror;
י׳וַיִּֽירְא֗וּ כׇּל־אָ֫דָ֥ם וַ֭יַּגִּידוּ פֹּ֥עַל אֱלֹהִ֗ים וּֽמַעֲשֵׂ֥הוּ הִשְׂכִּֽילוּ׃
10all people shall stand in awe;they shall proclaim the work of Godwhose deed they perceived.
י״איִשְׂמַ֬ח צַדִּ֣יק בַּ֭יהֹוָה וְחָ֣סָה ב֑וֹ וְ֝יִתְהַלְל֗וּ כׇּל־יִשְׁרֵי־לֵֽב׃ {פ}
11In GOD shall the righteous rejoiceand take refuge;all the upright shall exult.

ב׳לְךָ֤ דֻֽמִיָּ֬ה תְהִלָּ֓ה אֱלֹ֘הִ֥ים בְּצִיּ֑וֹן וּ֝לְךָ֗ יְשֻׁלַּם־נֶֽדֶר׃
2Praise befits You in Zion, O God;vows are paid to You;
ג׳שֹׁמֵ֥עַ תְּפִלָּ֑ה עָ֝דֶ֗יךָ כׇּל־בָּשָׂ֥ר יָבֹֽאוּ׃
3all humankindahumankind Lit. “flesh.” comes to You,You who hear prayer.
ד׳דִּבְרֵ֣י עֲ֭וֺנֹת גָּ֣בְרוּ מֶ֑נִּי פְּ֝שָׁעֵ֗ינוּ אַתָּ֥ה תְכַפְּרֵֽם׃
4When all manner of sins overwhelm me,it is You who forgive our iniquities.
ה׳אַשְׁרֵ֤י ׀ תִּ֥בְחַ֣ר וּתְקָרֵב֮ יִשְׁכֹּ֢ן חֲצֵ֫רֶ֥יךָ נִ֭שְׂבְּעָה בְּט֣וּב בֵּיתֶ֑ךָ קְ֝דֹ֗שׁ הֵיכָלֶֽךָ׃
5Happy is the one You choose and bring nearto dwell in Your courts;may we be sated with the blessings of Your house,Your holy temple.
ו׳נ֤וֹרָא֨וֹת ׀ בְּצֶ֣דֶק תַּ֭עֲנֵנוּ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעֵ֑נוּ מִבְטָ֥ח כׇּל־קַצְוֵי־אֶ֝֗רֶץ וְיָ֣ם רְחֹקִֽים׃
6Answer us with victory through awesome deeds,O God, our deliverer,in whom all the ends of the earthand the distant seasput their trust;
ז׳מֵכִ֣ין הָרִ֣ים בְּכֹח֑וֹ נֶ֝אְזָ֗ר בִּגְבוּרָֽה׃
7who by divine power fixed the mountains firmly,who is girded with might,
ח׳מַשְׁבִּ֤יחַ ׀ שְׁא֣וֹן יַ֭מִּים שְׁא֥וֹן גַּלֵּיהֶ֗ם וַהֲמ֥וֹן לְאֻמִּֽים׃
8who stills the raging seas,the raging waves,and tumultuous peoples.
ט׳וַיִּ֤ירְא֨וּ ׀ יֹשְׁבֵ֣י קְ֭צָוֺת מֵאוֹתֹתֶ֑יךָ מ֤וֹצָֽאֵי־בֹ֖קֶר וָעֶ֣רֶב תַּרְנִֽין׃
9Those who live at the ends of the earth are awed by Your signs;You make the lands of sunrise and sunset shout for joy.
י׳פָּ֤קַֽדְתָּ־הָאָ֨רֶץ וַתְּשֹׁ֪קְקֶ֡הָ רַבַּ֬ת תַּעְשְׁרֶ֗נָּה פֶּ֣לֶג אֱ֭לֹהִים מָ֣לֵא מָ֑יִם תָּכִ֥ין דְּ֝גָנָ֗ם כִּי־כֵ֥ן תְּכִינֶֽהָ׃
10You take care of the earth and irrigate it;You enrich it greatly,with the channel of God full of water;You provide grain for all;bgrain for all Heb. “their grain.” for so do You prepare it.
י״אתְּלָמֶ֣יהָ רַ֭וֵּה נַחֵ֣ת גְּדוּדֶ֑הָ בִּרְבִיבִ֥ים תְּ֝מֹגְגֶ֗נָּה צִמְחָ֥הּ תְּבָרֵֽךְ׃
11Saturating its furrows,leveling its ridges,You soften it with showers,You bless its growth.
י״בעִ֭טַּרְתָּ שְׁנַ֣ת טוֹבָתֶ֑ךָ וּ֝מַעְגָּלֶ֗יךָ יִרְעֲפ֥וּן דָּֽשֶׁן׃
12You crown the year with Your bounty;fatness is distilled in Your paths—
י״גיִ֭רְעֲפוּ נְא֣וֹת מִדְבָּ֑ר וְ֝גִ֗יל גְּבָע֥וֹת תַּחְגֹּֽרְנָה׃
13the pasturelands distill it;the hills are girded with joy.
י״דלָבְשׁ֬וּ כָרִ֨ים ׀ הַצֹּ֗אן וַעֲמָקִ֥ים יַֽעַטְפוּ־בָ֑ר יִ֝תְרוֹעֲע֗וּ אַף־יָשִֽׁירוּ׃ {פ}
14The meadows are clothed with flocks,the valleys mantled with grain;they raise a shout, they break into song.
