1Hallelujah.Praise GOD, who is good—whose steadfast love is eternal.

2Who can tell GOD’s mighty acts, proclaim all due praises?

3Happy are those who act justly, who do right at all times.

4Be mindful of me, O ETERNAL One, when You favor Your people;take note of me when You deliver them,

5that I may enjoy the prosperity of Your chosen ones, share the joy of Your nation, glory in Your very own people.

6We have sinned like our ancestors;we have gone astray, done evil.

7Our ancestors in Egypt did not perceive Your wonders;they did not remember Your abundant love, but rebelled at the sea, at the Sea of Reeds.

8Yet they were saved, as befits God’s name,to make known God’s might.

9A blast was sent against the Sea of Reeds;it became dry;they were led through the deep as through a wilderness.

10They were delivered from the foe, redeemed from the enemy.

11Water covered their adversaries;not one of them was left.

12Then they believed God’s promise,and sang God’s praises.

13But they soon forgot those deeds;they would not wait to learn the divine plan.

14They were seized with craving in the wilderness, and put God to the test in the wasteland.

15They were given what they asked for, then made to waste away.

16There was envy of Moses in the camp, and of Aaron, GOD’s holy one.

17The earth opened up and swallowed Dathan, closed over the party of Abiram.

18A fire blazed among their party,a flame that consumed the wicked.

19They made a calf at Horeband bowed down to a molten image.

20They exchanged their gloryfor the image of a bull that feeds on grass.

21They forgot God who saved them, who performed great deeds in Egypt,

22wondrous deeds in the land of Ham,awesome deeds at the Sea of Reeds.

23They would have been destroyedhad not Moses, God’s chosen one, stood in the breachto avert God’s destructive wrath.

24They rejected the desirable land, and put no faith in the divine promise.

25They grumbled in their tentsand disobeyed GOD.

26So a divine hand was raised in oathto make them fall in the wilderness,

27to disperseadisperse Cf. Targum, Kimhi. their offspring among the nationsand scatter them through the lands.

28They attached themselves to Baal Peor, ate sacrifices offered to the dead.

29They provoked anger by their deeds, and a plague broke out among them.

30Phinehas stepped forth and intervened, and the plague ceased.

31It was reckoned to his meritfor all generations, to eternity.

32They provoked wrath at the waters of Meribahand Moses suffered on their account,

33because they rebelled against [God]and he spoke rashly.

34They did not destroy the nationsas GOD had commanded them,

35but mingled with the nationsand learned their ways.

36They worshiped their idols, which became a snare for them.

37Their own sons and daughtersthey sacrificed to demons.

38They shed innocent blood, the blood of their sons and daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan;so the land was polluted with bloodguilt.

39Thus they became defiled by their acts, debauched through their deeds.

40GOD was angry with this peopleand abhorred them as an inheritance.

41They were handed over to the nations;their foes ruled them.

42Their enemies oppressed themand they were subject to their power.

43They were saved time and again, but they were deliberately rebellious, and so they were brought low by their iniquity.

44Upon seeing that they were in distress, and hearing their cry,

45[God] was mindful of the covenantand in great faithfulness relented.

46Their captors were made to be kindly disposed toward them.

47Deliver us, our ETERNAL God,and gather us from among the nations,to acclaim Your holy name,to glory in Your praise.

48Blessed is the ETERNAL, God of Israel,From eternity to eternity.Let all the people say, “Amen.”Hallelujah.

1“Praise GOD, who is good—whose steadfast love is eternal!”

2Thus let GOD’s redeemed say, those redeemed from adversity,

3who have been gathered in from the lands, from east and west, from the north and from the sea.

4Some lost their way in the wilderness,in the wasteland;they found no settled place.

5Hungry and thirsty,their spirit failed.

6In their adversity they cried to GOD,and they were rescued from their troubles.

7They were shown a direct wayto reach a settled place.

8Let them give praise for GOD’s steadfast loveand wondrous deeds for humankind—

9for satisfying the thirsty, and filling the hungry with all good things.

10Some lived in deepest darkness, bound in cruel irons,

11because they defied the word of God,spurned the counsel of the Most High.

12Their hearts were humbled through suffering;they stumbled with no one to help.

13In their adversity they cried to GOD,and were rescued from their troubles.

14They were brought out of deepest darkness, their bonds broken asunder.

15Let them give praise for GOD’s steadfast loveand wondrous deeds for humankind—

16shattering gates of bronze, breaking their iron bars.

17There were fools who suffered for their sinful way,and for their iniquities.

18All food was loathsome to them;they reached the gates of death.

19In their adversity they cried to GOD and they were saved from their troubles.

20[God] gave an order and healed them—delivering them from the pits.athe pits Of death.

21Let them give praise for GOD’s steadfast loveand wondrous deeds for humankind.

22Let them offer thanksgiving sacrifices, and tell those deeds in joyful song.

23Others go down to the sea in ships,ply their trade in the mighty waters;

24they have seen GOD’s worksand such wonders in the deep.

25God’s word raised a storm windthat made the waves surge.

26Mounting up to the heaven, plunging down to the depths, disgorging in their misery,

27they reeled and staggered like a drunk, all their skill to no avail.

28In their adversity they cried to GOD,and were saved from their troubles.

29The storm was reduced to a whisper;the waves were stilled.

30They rejoiced when all was quiet, and were brought to the port they desired.

31Let them give praise for GOD’s steadfast love, and wondrous deeds for humankind.

32Let them exalt in the congregation of the people, acclaim in the assembly of the elders.

33The rivers are turned into a wilderness, springs of water into thirsty land,

34fruitful land into a salt marsh, because of the wickedness of its inhabitants.

35The wilderness is turned into pools, parched land into springs of water.

36There the hungry are settled;they build a place to settle in.

37They sow fields and plant vineyardsthat yield a fruitful harvest.

38They are blessed and they increase greatly—their cattle do not decrease,

39after they had been few and crushedby oppression, misery, and sorrow.

40[God] pours contempt on noblesand makes them lose their way in trackless deserts;

41but the needy are secured from suffering, their families increased like flocks.

42The upright see it and rejoice;the mouth of all wrongdoers is stopped.

מ״גמִי־חָכָ֥ם וְיִשְׁמׇר־אֵ֑לֶּה וְ֝יִתְבּוֹנְנ֗וּ חַֽסְדֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃ {פ}

43One who is wise will take note of these thingsand consider GOD’s steadfast love.
