קל״ה

א׳הַ֥לְלוּ־יָ֨הּ ׀ הַֽ֭לְלוּ אֶת־שֵׁ֣ם יְהֹוָ֑ה הַֽ֝לְל֗וּ עַבְדֵ֥י יְהֹוָֽה׃

1Hallelujah.Praise the name of GOD;give praise, you servants of GOD

ב׳שֶׁ֣֭עֹמְדִים בְּבֵ֣ית יְהֹוָ֑ה בְּ֝חַצְר֗וֹת בֵּ֣ית אֱלֹהֵֽינוּ׃

2who stand in the house of GOD,in the courts of the house of our God.

ג׳הַֽלְלוּ־יָ֭הּ כִּֽי־ט֣וֹב יְהֹוָ֑ה זַמְּר֥וּ לִ֝שְׁמ֗וֹ כִּ֣י נָעִֽים׃

3Praise Yah,aYah See note at 68.5. for GOD is good;sing hymns to this name, for it is pleasant.

ד׳כִּֽי־יַעֲקֹ֗ב בָּחַ֣ר ל֣וֹ יָ֑הּ יִ֝שְׂרָאֵ֗ל לִסְגֻלָּתֽוֹ׃

4For Yah has chosen to keep Jacob close,[treating] Israel as a treasured possession.

ה׳כִּ֤י אֲנִ֣י יָ֭דַעְתִּי כִּֽי־גָד֣וֹל יְהֹוָ֑ה וַ֝אֲדֹנֵ֗ינוּ מִכׇּל־אֱלֹהִֽים׃

5For I know that GOD is great,that our Sovereign is greater than all gods.

ו׳כֹּ֤ל אֲשֶׁר־חָפֵ֥ץ יְהֹוָ֗ה עָ֫שָׂ֥ה בַּשָּׁמַ֥יִם וּבָאָ֑רֶץ בַּ֝יַּמִּ֗ים וְכׇל־תְּהֹמֽוֹת׃

6Whatever GOD desires is donein heaven and earth,in the seas and all the depths.

ז׳מַעֲלֶ֣ה נְשִׂאִים֮ מִקְצֵ֢ה הָ֫אָ֥רֶץ בְּרָקִ֣ים לַמָּטָ֣ר עָשָׂ֑ה מֽוֹצֵא־ר֝֗וּחַ מֵאֽוֹצְרוֹתָֽיו׃

7This is who makes clouds rise from the end of the earth;who makes lightning for the rain;who releases the wind from divine vaults.

ח׳שֶׁ֭הִכָּה בְּכוֹרֵ֣י מִצְרָ֑יִם מֵ֝אָדָ֗ם עַד־בְּהֵמָֽה׃

8[God] struck down the first-born of Egypt,human and animal alike—

ט׳שָׁלַ֤ח ׀ אוֹתֹ֣ת וּ֭מֹפְתִים בְּתוֹכֵ֣כִי מִצְרָ֑יִם בְּ֝פַרְעֹ֗ה וּבְכׇל־עֲבָדָֽיו׃

9sending signs and portents againstbagainst In contrast to others “against you.” Egypt,against Pharaoh and all his servants,

י׳שֶׁ֭הִכָּה גּוֹיִ֣ם רַבִּ֑ים וְ֝הָרַ֗ג מְלָכִ֥ים עֲצוּמִֽים׃

10striking down many nationsand slaying numerous kings—

י״אלְסִיח֤וֹן ׀ מֶ֤לֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִ֗י וּ֭לְעוֹג מֶ֣לֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֑ן וּ֝לְכֹ֗ל מַמְלְכ֥וֹת כְּנָֽעַן׃

11Sihon, king of the Amorites,Og, king of Bashan,and all the royalty of Canaan—

י״בוְנָתַ֣ן אַרְצָ֣ם נַחֲלָ֑ה נַ֝חֲלָ֗ה לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֥ל עַמּֽוֹ׃

12and giving their lands as a heritage,as a heritage to Israel—God’s people.

י״גיְ֭הֹוָה שִׁמְךָ֣ לְעוֹלָ֑ם יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה זִכְרְךָ֥ לְדֹר־וָדֹֽר׃

13O ETERNAL One, Your name endures forever,Your fame, O ETERNAL One, through all generations;

י״דכִּֽי־יָדִ֣ין יְהֹוָ֣ה עַמּ֑וֹ וְעַל־עֲ֝בָדָ֗יו יִתְנֶחָֽם׃

14for GOD will champion this people,and obtain satisfaction for their service.ctheir service Lit. “His servants.”

ט״ועֲצַבֵּ֣י הַ֭גּוֹיִם כֶּ֣סֶף וְזָהָ֑ב מַ֝עֲשֵׂ֗ה יְדֵ֣י אָדָֽם׃

15dCf. Ps. 115.4–11. The idols of the nations are silver and gold,the work of human hands.

ט״זפֶּֽה־לָ֭הֶם וְלֹ֣א יְדַבֵּ֑רוּ עֵינַ֥יִם לָ֝הֶ֗ם וְלֹ֣א יִרְאֽוּ׃

16They have mouths, but cannot speak;they have eyes, but cannot see;

י״זאׇזְנַ֣יִם לָ֭הֶם וְלֹ֣א יַאֲזִ֑ינוּ אַ֝֗ף אֵין־יֶשׁ־ר֥וּחַ בְּפִיהֶֽם׃

17they have ears, but cannot hear,nor is there breath in their mouths.

י״חכְּ֭מוֹהֶם יִהְי֣וּ עֹשֵׂיהֶ֑ם כֹּ֖ל אֲשֶׁר־בֹּטֵ֣חַ בָּהֶֽם׃

18Those who fashion them,all who trust in them,shall become like them.

י״טבֵּ֣ית יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל בָּרְכ֣וּ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֑ה בֵּ֥ית אַ֝הֲרֹ֗ן בָּרְכ֥וּ אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה׃

19O house of Israel, bless GOD;O house of Aaron, bless GOD;

כ׳בֵּ֣ית הַ֭לֵּוִי בָּרְכ֣וּ אֶת־יְהֹוָ֑ה יִֽרְאֵ֥י יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה בָּרְכ֥וּ אֶת־יְהֹוָֽה׃

20O house of Levi, bless GOD;you who fear GOD, bless GOD.

כ״אבָּ֘ר֤וּךְ יְהֹוָ֨ה ׀ מִצִּיּ֗וֹן שֹׁ֘כֵ֤ן יְֽרוּשָׁלָ֗͏ִם הַֽלְלוּ־יָֽהּ׃ {פ}

21Blessed is GOD from Zion,the One who dwells in Jerusalem.Hallelujah.

קל״ו

א׳הוֹד֣וּ לַיהֹוָ֣ה כִּי־ט֑וֹב כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

1Praise GOD, who is good,—whose steadfast love is eternal.

ב׳ה֭וֹדוּ לֵאלֹהֵ֣י הָאֱלֹהִ֑ים כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

2Praise the God of gods,—whose steadfast love is eternal.

ג׳ה֭וֹדוּ לַאֲדֹנֵ֣י הָאֲדֹנִ֑ים כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

3Praise the Sovereign of sovereigns,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

ד׳לְעֹ֘שֵׂ֤ה נִפְלָא֣וֹת גְּדֹל֣וֹת לְבַדּ֑וֹ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

4Who alone works great marvels,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

ה׳לְעֹשֵׂ֣ה הַ֭שָּׁמַיִם בִּתְבוּנָ֑ה כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

5Who made the heavens with wisdom,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

ו׳לְרֹקַ֣ע הָ֭אָרֶץ עַל־הַמָּ֑יִם כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

6Who spread the earth over the water,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

ז׳לְ֭עֹשֵׂה אוֹרִ֣ים גְּדֹלִ֑ים כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

7Who made the great lights,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

ח׳אֶת־הַ֭שֶּׁמֶשׁ לְמֶמְשֶׁ֣לֶת בַּיּ֑וֹם כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

8the sun to dominate the day,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

ט׳אֶת־הַיָּרֵ֣חַ וְ֭כוֹכָבִים לְמֶמְשְׁל֣וֹת בַּלָּ֑יְלָה כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

9the moon and the stars to dominate the night,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

י׳לְמַכֵּ֣ה מִ֭צְרַיִם בִּבְכוֹרֵיהֶ֑ם כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

10Who struck Egypt through their first-born,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

י״אוַיּוֹצֵ֣א יִ֭שְׂרָאֵל מִתּוֹכָ֑ם כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

11and brought Israel out of their midst,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

י״בבְּיָ֣ד חֲ֭זָקָה וּבִזְר֣וֹעַ נְטוּיָ֑ה כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

12with a strong hand and outstretched arm,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

י״גלְגֹזֵ֣ר יַם־ס֭וּף לִגְזָרִ֑ים כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

13Who split apart the Sea of Reeds,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

י״דוְהֶעֱבִ֣יר יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל בְּתוֹכ֑וֹ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

14and made Israel pass through it,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

ט״ווְנִ֘עֵ֤ר פַּרְעֹ֣ה וְחֵיל֣וֹ בְיַם־ס֑וּף כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

15Who hurled Pharaoh and his army into the Sea of Reeds,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

ט״זלְמוֹלִ֣יךְ עַ֭מּוֹ בַּמִּדְבָּ֑ר כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

16Who led this people through the wilderness,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

י״זלְ֭מַכֵּה מְלָכִ֣ים גְּדֹלִ֑ים כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

17Who struck down great kings,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

י״חוַֽ֭יַּהֲרֹג מְלָכִ֣ים אַדִּירִ֑ים כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

18and slew mighty kings,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

י״טלְ֭סִיחוֹן מֶ֣לֶךְ הָאֱמֹרִ֑י כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

19Sihon, king of the Amorites,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

כ׳וּ֭לְעוֹג מֶ֣לֶךְ הַבָּשָׁ֑ן כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

20Og, king of Bashan,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

כ״אוְנָתַ֣ן אַרְצָ֣ם לְנַחֲלָ֑ה כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

21and gave their land as a heritage,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

כ״בנַ֭חֲלָה לְיִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל עַבְדּ֑וֹ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

22a heritage to Israel—God’s servant,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

כ״גשֶׁ֭בְּשִׁפְלֵנוּ זָ֣כַר לָ֑נוּ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

23Who took note of us in our degradation,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

כ״דוַיִּפְרְקֵ֥נוּ מִצָּרֵ֑ינוּ כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

24and rescued us from our enemies,—whose steadfast love is eternal;

כ״הנֹתֵ֣ן לֶ֭חֶם לְכׇל־בָּשָׂ֑ר כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃

25Who gives food to all flesh,—whose steadfast love is eternal.

כ״וה֭וֹדוּ לְאֵ֣ל הַשָּׁמָ֑יִם כִּ֖י לְעוֹלָ֣ם חַסְדּֽוֹ׃ {פ}

26Praise the God of heaven,—whose steadfast love is eternal.

קל״ז

א׳עַ֥ל־נַהֲר֨וֹת ׀ בָּבֶ֗ל שָׁ֣ם יָ֭שַׁבְנוּ גַּם־בָּכִ֑ינוּ בְּ֝זׇכְרֵ֗נוּ אֶת־צִיּֽוֹן׃

1By the rivers of Babylon,there we sat,sat and wept,as we thought of Zion.

ב׳עַֽל־עֲרָבִ֥ים בְּתוֹכָ֑הּ תָּ֝לִ֗ינוּ כִּנֹּרוֹתֵֽינוּ׃

2There on the poplarswe hung up our lyres,

ג׳כִּ֤י שָׁ֨ם שְֽׁאֵל֪וּנוּ שׁוֹבֵ֡ינוּ דִּבְרֵי־שִׁ֭יר וְתוֹלָלֵ֣ינוּ שִׂמְחָ֑ה שִׁ֥ירוּ לָ֝֗נוּ מִשִּׁ֥יר צִיּֽוֹן׃

3for our captors asked us there for songs,our tormentors,atormentors Meaning of Heb. uncertain. for amusement:“Sing us one of the songs of Zion.”

ד׳אֵ֗יךְ נָשִׁ֥יר אֶת־שִׁיר־יְהֹוָ֑ה עַ֝֗ל אַדְמַ֥ת נֵכָֽר׃

4How can we sing a song of GOD on alien soil?

ה׳אִֽם־אֶשְׁכָּחֵ֥ךְ יְֽרוּשָׁלָ֗͏ִם תִּשְׁכַּ֥ח יְמִינִֽי׃

5If I forget you, O Jerusalem,let my right hand wither;bwither In contrast to others “forget its cunning.”

ו׳תִּדְבַּֽק־לְשׁוֹנִ֨י ׀ לְחִכִּי֮ אִם־לֹ֢א אֶ֫זְכְּרֵ֥כִי אִם־לֹ֣א אַ֭עֲלֶה אֶת־יְרוּשָׁלַ֑͏ִם עַ֝֗ל רֹ֣אשׁ שִׂמְחָתִֽי׃

6let my tongue stick to my palateif I cease to think of you,if I do not keep Jerusalem in memoryeven at my happiest hour.

ז׳זְכֹ֤ר יְהֹוָ֨ה ׀ לִבְנֵ֬י אֱד֗וֹם אֵת֮ י֤וֹם יְֽר֫וּשָׁלָ֥͏ִם הָ֭אֹ֣מְרִים עָ֤רוּ ׀ עָ֑רוּ עַ֝֗ד הַיְס֥וֹד בָּֽהּ׃

7Remember, O ETERNAL One, against the Edomitesthe day of Jerusalem’s fall;how they cried, “Strip her, strip herto her very foundations!”

ח׳בַּת־בָּבֶ֗ל הַשְּׁד֫וּדָ֥ה אַשְׁרֵ֥י שֶׁיְשַׁלֶּם־לָ֑ךְ אֶת־גְּ֝מוּלֵ֗ךְ שֶׁגָּמַ֥לְתְּ לָֽנוּ׃

8Fair Babylon, you predator,cpredator With Targum; in contrast to others “who are to be destroyed.” a blessing on the one who repays you in kindwhat you have inflicted on us;

ט׳אַשְׁרֵ֤י ׀ שֶׁיֹּאחֵ֓ז וְנִפֵּ֬ץ אֶֽת־עֹלָלַ֗יִךְ אֶל־הַסָּֽלַע׃ {פ}

9a blessing on the one who seizes your babiesand dashes them against the rocks!

קל״ח

א׳לְדָוִ֨ד ׀ אוֹדְךָ֥ בְכׇל־לִבִּ֑י נֶ֖גֶד אֱלֹהִ֣ים אֲזַמְּרֶֽךָּ׃

1Of David.I praise You with all my heart,sing a hymn to You before the divine beings;

ב׳אֶשְׁתַּחֲוֶ֨ה אֶל־הֵיכַ֪ל קׇדְשְׁךָ֡ וְא֘וֹדֶ֤ה אֶת־שְׁמֶ֗ךָ עַל־חַסְדְּךָ֥ וְעַל־אֲמִתֶּ֑ךָ כִּֽי־הִגְדַּ֥לְתָּ עַל־כׇּל־שִׁ֝מְךָ֗ אִמְרָתֶֽךָ׃

2I bow toward Your holy templeand praise Your name for Your steadfast love and faithfulness,because You have exalted Your name, Your word, above all.aYour name, Your word, above all Meaning of Heb. uncertain.

ג׳בְּי֣וֹם קָ֭רָֽאתִי וַֽתַּעֲנֵ֑נִי תַּרְהִבֵ֖נִי בְנַפְשִׁ֣י עֹֽז׃

3When I called, You answered me,You inspired me with courage.bYou inspired me with courage Meaning of Heb. uncertain.

ד׳יוֹד֣וּךָ יְ֭הֹוָה כׇּל־מַלְכֵי־אָ֑רֶץ כִּ֥י שָׁ֝מְע֗וּ אִמְרֵי־פִֽיךָ׃

4All the kings of the earth shall praise You, O ETERNAL One,for they have heard the words You spoke.

ה׳וְ֭יָשִׁירוּ בְּדַרְכֵ֣י יְהֹוָ֑ה כִּֽי־גָ֝ד֗וֹל כְּב֣וֹד יְהֹוָֽה׃

5They shall sing of GOD’s ways,“Great is GOD’s majesty!”

ו׳כִּי־רָ֣ם יְ֭הֹוָה וְשָׁפָ֣ל יִרְאֶ֑ה וְ֝גָבֹ֗הַּ מִמֶּרְחָ֥ק יְיֵדָֽע׃

6From way up high GOD sees the lowly;aloft, yet perceiving from afar.

ז׳אִם־אֵלֵ֤ךְ ׀ בְּקֶ֥רֶב צָרָ֗ה תְּחַ֫יֵּ֥נִי עַ֤ל אַ֣ף אֹ֭יְבַי תִּשְׁלַ֣ח יָדֶ֑ךָ וְת֖וֹשִׁיעֵ֣נִי יְמִינֶֽךָ׃

7Though I walk among enemies,You preserve me in the face of my foes;You extend Your hand;with Your right hand You deliver me.

ח׳יְהֹוָה֮ יִגְמֹ֢ר בַּ֫עֲדִ֥י יְ֭הֹוָה חַסְדְּךָ֣ לְעוֹלָ֑ם מַעֲשֵׂ֖י יָדֶ֣יךָ אַל־תֶּֽרֶף׃ {פ}

8GOD will settle accounts for me.O ETERNAL One, Your steadfast love is eternal;do not forsake the work of Your hands.

קל״ט

א׳לַ֭מְנַצֵּחַ לְדָוִ֣ד מִזְמ֑וֹר יְהֹוָ֥ה חֲ֝קַרְתַּ֗נִי וַתֵּדָֽע׃

1For the leader. Of David. A psalm.O ETERNAL One, You have examined me and know me.

ב׳אַתָּ֣ה יָ֭דַעְתָּ שִׁבְתִּ֣י וְקוּמִ֑י בַּ֥נְתָּה לְ֝רֵעִ֗י מֵרָחֽוֹק׃

2When I sit down or stand up You know it;You discern my thoughts from afar.

ג׳אׇרְחִ֣י וְרִבְעִ֣י זֵרִ֑יתָ וְֽכׇל־דְּרָכַ֥י הִסְכַּֽנְתָּה׃

3You observeaYou observe Meaning of Heb. uncertain. my walking and reclining,and are familiar with all my ways.

ד׳כִּ֤י אֵ֣ין מִ֭לָּה בִּלְשׁוֹנִ֑י הֵ֥ן יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה יָדַ֥עְתָּ כֻלָּֽהּ׃

4There is not a word on my tonguebut that You, O ETERNAL One, know it well.

ה׳אָח֣וֹר וָקֶ֣דֶם צַרְתָּ֑נִי וַתָּ֖שֶׁת עָלַ֣י כַּפֶּֽכָה׃

5You hedge me before and behind;You lay Your hand upon me.

ו׳(פלאיה) [פְּלִ֣יאָֽה] דַ֣עַת מִמֶּ֑נִּי נִ֝שְׂגְּבָ֗ה לֹא־א֥וּכַֽל לָֽהּ׃

6It is beyond my knowledge;it is a mystery; I cannot fathom it.

ז׳אָ֭נָֽה אֵלֵ֣ךְ מֵרוּחֶ֑ךָ וְ֝אָ֗נָה מִפָּנֶ֥יךָ אֶבְרָֽח׃

7Where can I escape from Your spirit?Where can I flee from Your presence?

ח׳אִם־אֶסַּ֣ק שָׁ֭מַיִם שָׁ֣ם אָ֑תָּה וְאַצִּ֖יעָה שְּׁא֣וֹל הִנֶּֽךָּ׃

8If I ascend to heaven, You are there;if I descend to Sheol, You are there too.

ט׳אֶשָּׂ֥א כַנְפֵי־שָׁ֑חַר אֶ֝שְׁכְּנָ֗ה בְּאַחֲרִ֥ית יָֽם׃

9If I take wing with the dawnto come to rest on the western horizon,

י׳גַּם־שָׁ֭ם יָדְךָ֣ תַנְחֵ֑נִי וְֽתֹאחֲזֵ֥נִי יְמִינֶֽךָ׃

10even there Your hand will be guiding me,Your right hand will be holding me fast.

י״אוָ֭אֹמַר אַךְ־חֹ֣שֶׁךְ יְשׁוּפֵ֑נִי וְ֝לַ֗יְלָה א֣וֹר בַּעֲדֵֽנִי׃

11If I say, “Surely darkness will conceal me,night will provide me with cover,”bwill conceal me, / night will provide me with cover Cf. Rashi, Ibn Ezra; meaning of Heb. uncertain.

י״בגַּם־חֹשֶׁךְ֮ לֹא־יַחְשִׁ֢יךְ מִ֫מֶּ֥ךָּ וְ֭לַיְלָה כַּיּ֣וֹם יָאִ֑יר כַּ֝חֲשֵׁיכָ֗ה כָּאוֹרָֽה׃

12darkness is not dark for You;night is as light as day;darkness and light are the same.

י״גכִּֽי־אַ֭תָּה קָנִ֣יתָ כִלְיֹתָ֑י תְּ֝סֻכֵּ֗נִי בְּבֶ֣טֶן אִמִּֽי׃

13It was You who created my conscience;cconscience Lit. “kidneys.” You fashioned me in my mother’s womb.

י״דאוֹדְךָ֗ עַ֤ל כִּ֥י נוֹרָא֗וֹת נִ֫פְלֵ֥יתִי נִפְלָאִ֥ים מַעֲשֶׂ֑יךָ וְ֝נַפְשִׁ֗י יֹדַ֥עַת מְאֹֽד׃

14I praise You,for I am awesomely, wondrously made;Your work is wonderful;I know it very well.

ט״ולֹֽא־נִכְחַ֥ד עׇצְמִ֗י מִ֫מֶּ֥ךָּ אֲשֶׁר־עֻשֵּׂ֥יתִי בַסֵּ֑תֶר רֻ֝קַּ֗מְתִּי בְּֽתַחְתִּיּ֥וֹת אָֽרֶץ׃

15My frame was not concealed from Youwhen I was shaped in a hidden place,knit together in the recesses of the earth.

ט״זגׇּלְמִ֤י ׀ רָ֘א֤וּ עֵינֶ֗יךָ וְעַֽל־סִפְרְךָ֮ כֻּלָּ֢ם יִכָּ֫תֵ֥בוּ יָמִ֥ים יֻצָּ֑רוּ (ולא) [וְל֖וֹ] אֶחָ֣ד בָּהֶֽם׃

16Your eyes saw my unformed limbs;they were all recorded in Your book;in due time they were formed,to the very last one of them.dto the very last one of them Meaning of Heb. uncertain.

י״זוְלִ֗י מַה־יָּקְר֣וּ רֵעֶ֣יךָ אֵ֑ל מֶ֥ה עָ֝צְמ֗וּ רָאשֵׁיהֶֽם׃

17How weighty Your thoughts seem to me, O God,how great their number!

י״חאֶ֭סְפְּרֵם מֵח֣וֹל יִרְבּ֑וּן הֱ֝קִיצֹ֗תִי וְעוֹדִ֥י עִמָּֽךְ׃

18I count them—they exceed the grains of sand;I end—but am still with You.

י״טאִם־תִּקְטֹ֖ל אֱל֥וֹהַּ ׀ רָשָׁ֑ע וְאַנְשֵׁ֥י דָ֝מִ֗ים ס֣וּרוּ מֶֽנִּי׃

19O God, if You would only slay the wicked—you murderers, away from me!—

כ׳אֲשֶׁ֣ר יֹ֭מְרוּךָ לִמְזִמָּ֑ה נָשׂ֖וּא לַשָּׁ֣וְא עָרֶֽיךָ׃

20who invoke You for intrigue,Your enemies who swear by You falsely.ewho invoke You … falsely Meaning of Heb. uncertain.

כ״אהֲלֽוֹא־מְשַׂנְאֶ֖יךָ יְהֹוָ֥ה ׀ אֶשְׂנָ֑א וּ֝בִתְקוֹמְמֶ֗יךָ אֶתְקוֹטָֽט׃

21O ETERNAL One, You know I hate those who hate You,and loathe Your adversaries.

כ״בתַּכְלִ֣ית שִׂנְאָ֣ה שְׂנֵאתִ֑ים לְ֝אוֹיְבִ֗ים הָ֣יוּ לִֽי׃

22I feel a perfect hatred toward them;I count them my enemies.

כ״גחׇקְרֵ֣נִי אֵ֭ל וְדַ֣ע לְבָבִ֑י בְּ֝חָנֵ֗נִי וְדַ֣ע שַׂרְעַפָּֽי׃

23Examine me, O God, and know my mind;probe me and know my thoughts.

כ״דוּרְאֵ֗ה אִם־דֶּֽרֶךְ־עֹ֥צֶב בִּ֑י וּ֝נְחֵ֗נִי בְּדֶ֣רֶךְ עוֹלָֽם׃ {פ}

24See if I have vexatious ways,and guide me in ways everlasting.
