פ״ג

א׳שִׁ֖יר מִזְמ֣וֹר לְאָסָֽף׃

1A song, a psalm of Asaph.

ב׳אֱלֹהִ֥ים אַל־דֳּמִי־לָ֑ךְ אַל־תֶּחֱרַ֖שׁ וְאַל־תִּשְׁקֹ֣ט אֵֽל׃

2O God, do not be silent;do not hold aloof;do not be quiet, O God!

ג׳כִּֽי־הִנֵּ֣ה א֭וֹיְבֶיךָ יֶהֱמָי֑וּן וּ֝מְשַׂנְאֶ֗יךָ נָ֣שְׂאוּ רֹֽאשׁ׃

3For Your enemies rage,Your foes assert themselves.aassert themselves Lit. “lift up the head.”

ד׳עַֽל־עַ֭מְּךָ יַעֲרִ֣ימוּ ס֑וֹד וְ֝יִתְיָעֲצ֗וּ עַל־צְפוּנֶֽיךָ׃

4They plot craftily against Your people,take counsel against Your treasured ones.

ה׳אָמְר֗וּ לְ֭כוּ וְנַכְחִידֵ֣ם מִגּ֑וֹי וְלֹֽא־יִזָּכֵ֖ר שֵֽׁם־יִשְׂרָאֵ֣ל עֽוֹד׃

5They say, “Let us wipe them out as a nation;Israel’s name will be mentioned no more.”

ו׳כִּ֤י נוֹעֲצ֣וּ לֵ֣ב יַחְדָּ֑ו עָ֝לֶ֗יךָ בְּרִ֣ית יִכְרֹֽתוּ׃

6Unanimous in their counselthey have made an alliance against You—

ז׳אׇהֳלֵ֣י אֱ֭דוֹם וְיִשְׁמְעֵאלִ֗ים מוֹאָ֥ב וְהַגְרִֽים׃

7the clans of Edom and the Ishmaelites,Moab and the Hagrites,

ח׳גְּבָ֣ל וְ֭עַמּוֹן וַעֲמָלֵ֑ק פְּ֝לֶ֗שֶׁת עִם־יֹ֥שְׁבֵי צֽוֹר׃

8Gebal, Ammon, and Amalek,Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;

ט׳גַּם־אַ֭שּׁוּר נִלְוָ֣ה עִמָּ֑ם הָ֤יֽוּ־זְר֖וֹעַ לִבְנֵי־ל֣וֹט סֶֽלָה׃

9Assyria too joins forces with them;they give support to the descendants of Lot.bthe descendants of Lot I.e., the Moabites and the Ammonites; cf. Gen. 19.36–38.    Selah.

י׳עֲשֵֽׂה־לָהֶ֥ם כְּמִדְיָ֑ן כְּֽסִיסְרָ֥א כְ֝יָבִ֗ין בְּנַ֣חַל קִישֽׁוֹן׃

10Deal with them as You did with Midian,with Sisera, with Jabin,at the brook Kishon—

י״אנִשְׁמְד֥וּ בְֽעֵין־דֹּ֑אר הָ֥יוּ דֹ֝֗מֶן לָאֲדָמָֽה׃

11who were destroyed at En-dor,who became dung for the field.

י״בשִׁיתֵ֣מוֹ נְ֭דִיבֵימוֹ כְּעֹרֵ֣ב וְכִזְאֵ֑ב וּֽכְזֶ֥בַח וּ֝כְצַלְמֻנָּ֗ע כׇּל־נְסִיכֵֽימוֹ׃

12Treat their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb,all their princes like Zebah and Zalmunna,

י״גאֲשֶׁ֣ר אָ֭מְרוּ נִ֣ירְשָׁה לָּ֑נוּ אֵ֝֗ת נְא֣וֹת אֱלֹהִֽים׃

13who said, “Let us take the meadows of God as our possession.”

י״דאֱֽלֹהַ֗י שִׁיתֵ֥מוֹ כַגַּלְגַּ֑ל כְּ֝קַ֗שׁ לִפְנֵי־רֽוּחַ׃

14O my God, make them like thistledown,like stubble driven by the wind.

ט״וכְּאֵ֥שׁ תִּבְעַר־יָ֑עַר וּ֝כְלֶהָבָ֗ה תְּלַהֵ֥ט הָרִֽים׃

15As a fire burns a forest,as flames scorch the hills,

ט״זכֵּ֭ן תִּרְדְּפֵ֣ם בְּסַעֲרֶ֑ךָ וּבְסוּפָתְךָ֥ תְבַהֲלֵֽם׃

16pursue them with Your tempest,terrify them with Your storm.

י״זמַלֵּ֣א פְנֵיהֶ֣ם קָל֑וֹן וִיבַקְשׁ֖וּ שִׁמְךָ֣ יְהֹוָֽה׃

17CovercCover Lit. “Fill.” their faces with shameso that they seek Your name, O ETERNAL One.

י״חיֵבֹ֖שׁוּ וְיִבָּהֲל֥וּ עֲדֵי־עַ֗ד וְֽיַחְפְּר֥וּ וְיֹאבֵֽדוּ׃

18May they be frustrated and terrified,disgraced and doomed forever.

י״טוְֽיֵדְע֗וּ כִּי־אַתָּ֬ה שִׁמְךָ֣ יְהֹוָ֣ה לְבַדֶּ֑ךָ עֶ֝לְי֗וֹן עַל־כׇּל־הָאָֽרֶץ׃ {פ}

19May they knowthat Your name, Yours alone, is GOD,supreme over all the earth.

פ״ד

א׳לַמְנַצֵּ֥חַ עַֽל־הַגִּתִּ֑ית לִבְנֵי־קֹ֥רַח מִזְמֽוֹר׃

1For the leader; on the gittith. Of the Korahites. A psalm.

ב׳מַה־יְּדִיד֥וֹת מִשְׁכְּנוֹתֶ֗יךָ יְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָאֽוֹת׃

2How lovely is Your dwelling-place,O GOD of Hosts.

ג׳נִכְסְפָ֬ה וְגַם־כָּלְתָ֨ה ׀ נַפְשִׁי֮ לְחַצְר֢וֹת יְ֫הֹוָ֥ה לִבִּ֥י וּבְשָׂרִ֑י יְ֝רַנְּנ֗וּ אֶ֣ל אֵֽל־חָֽי׃

3I long, I yearn for the courts of the ETERNAL One;my body and soul shout for joy to the living God.

ד׳גַּם־צִפּ֨וֹר מָ֪צְאָה בַ֡יִת וּדְר֤וֹר ׀ קֵ֥ן לָהּ֮ אֲשֶׁר־שָׁ֢תָה אֶפְרֹ֫חֶ֥יהָ אֶֽת־מִ֭זְבְּחוֹתֶיךָ יְהֹוָ֣ה צְבָא֑וֹת מַ֝לְכִּ֗י וֵאלֹהָֽי׃

4Even the sparrow has found a home,and the swallow a nest for herselfin which to set her young,near Your altar, O GOD of Hosts,my monarch and my God.

ה׳אַ֭שְׁרֵי יוֹשְׁבֵ֣י בֵיתֶ֑ךָ ע֝֗וֹד יְֽהַלְל֥וּךָ סֶּֽלָה׃

5Happy are those who dwell in Your house;they forever praise You.    Selah.

ו׳אַשְׁרֵ֣י אָ֭דָם עֽוֹז־ל֥וֹ בָ֑ךְ מְ֝סִלּ֗וֹת בִּלְבָבָֽם׃

6Happy are those who find refuge in You,whose mind is on the [pilgrim] highways.

ז׳עֹבְרֵ֤י ׀ בְּעֵ֣מֶק הַ֭בָּכָא מַעְיָ֣ן יְשִׁית֑וּהוּ גַּם־בְּ֝רָכ֗וֹת יַעְטֶ֥ה מוֹרֶֽה׃

7They pass through the Valley of Baca,regarding it as a place of springs,as if the early rain had covered it with blessing.aregarding it … blessing Meaning of Heb. uncertain.

ח׳יֵ֭לְכוּ מֵחַ֣יִל אֶל־חָ֑יִל יֵרָאֶ֖ה אֶל־אֱלֹהִ֣ים בְּצִיּֽוֹן׃

8They go from rampart to rampart,brampart to rampart In contrast to others “strength to strength.” appearing before God in Zion.

ט׳יְ֘הֹוָ֤ה אֱלֹהִ֣ים צְ֭בָאוֹת שִׁמְעָ֣ה תְפִלָּתִ֑י הַאֲזִ֨ינָה אֱלֹהֵ֖י יַעֲקֹ֣ב סֶֽלָה׃

9O ETERNAL God of hosts,hear my prayer;give ear, O God of Jacob.    Selah.

י׳מָ֭גִנֵּנוּ רְאֵ֣ה אֱלֹהִ֑ים וְ֝הַבֵּ֗ט פְּנֵ֣י מְשִׁיחֶֽךָ׃

10O God, behold our shield,look upon the face of Your anointed.

י״אכִּ֤י טֽוֹב־י֥וֹם בַּחֲצֵרֶ֗יךָ מֵ֫אָ֥לֶף בָּחַ֗רְתִּי הִ֭סְתּוֹפֵף בְּבֵ֣ית אֱלֹהַ֑י מִ֝דּ֗וּר בְּאׇהֳלֵי־רֶֽשַׁע׃

11Better one day in Your courts than a thousand [anywhere else];I would rather stand at the threshold of God’s housethan dwell in the tents of the wicked.

י״בכִּ֤י שֶׁ֨מֶשׁ ׀ וּמָגֵן֮ יְהֹוָ֢ה אֱלֹ֫הִ֥ים חֵ֣ן וְ֭כָבוֹד יִתֵּ֣ן יְהֹוָ֑ה לֹ֥א יִמְנַע־ט֝֗וֹב לַֽהֹלְכִ֥ים בְּתָמִֽים׃

12For the ETERNAL God is suncsun Or “bulwark,” with Targum; cf. Isa. 54.12. and shield; GOD bestows grace and glory,and does not withhold bounty from those who live without blame.

י״גיְהֹוָ֥ה צְבָא֑וֹת אַֽשְׁרֵ֥י אָ֝דָ֗ם בֹּטֵ֥חַ בָּֽךְ׃ {פ}

13O GOD of Hosts,happy is the one who trusts in You.

פ״ה

א׳לַמְנַצֵּ֬חַ ׀ לִבְנֵי־קֹ֬רַח מִזְמֽוֹר׃

ב׳רָצִ֣יתָ יְהֹוָ֣ה אַרְצֶ֑ךָ שַׁ֝֗בְתָּ (שבות) [שְׁבִ֣ית] יַעֲקֹֽב׃

2O ETERNAL One, You will favorawill favor Or “have favored.” Your land,restorebrestore Or “have restored.” Jacob’s fortune;

ג׳נָ֭שָׂאתָ עֲוֺ֣ן עַמֶּ֑ךָ כִּסִּ֖יתָ כׇל־חַטָּאתָ֣ם סֶֽלָה׃

3You will forgivecwill forgive Or “have forgiven.” Your people’s iniquity,pardondpardon Or “have pardoned.” all their sins;    selah

ד׳אָסַ֥פְתָּ כׇל־עֶבְרָתֶ֑ךָ הֱ֝שִׁיב֗וֹתָ מֵחֲר֥וֹן אַפֶּֽךָ׃

4You will withdrawewill withdraw Or “have withdrawn.” all Your anger,turnfturn Or “have turned.” away from Your rage.

ה׳שׁ֭וּבֵנוּ אֱלֹהֵ֣י יִשְׁעֵ֑נוּ וְהָפֵ֖ר כַּעַסְךָ֣ עִמָּֽנוּ׃

5Turn again, O God, our helper,revoke Your displeasure with us.

ו׳הַלְעוֹלָ֥ם תֶּאֱנַף־בָּ֑נוּ תִּמְשֹׁ֥ךְ אַ֝פְּךָ֗ לְדֹ֣ר וָדֹֽר׃

6Will You be angry with us forever,prolong Your wrath for all generations?

ז׳הֲֽלֹא־אַ֭תָּה תָּשׁ֣וּב תְּחַיֵּ֑נוּ וְ֝עַמְּךָ֗ יִשְׂמְחוּ־בָֽךְ׃

7Surely You will revive us again,so that Your people may rejoice in You.

ח׳הַרְאֵ֣נוּ יְהֹוָ֣ה חַסְדֶּ֑ךָ וְ֝יֶשְׁעֲךָ֗ תִּתֶּן־לָֽנוּ׃

8Show us, O ETERNAL One, Your faithfulness;grant us Your deliverance.

ט׳אֶשְׁמְעָ֗ה מַה־יְדַבֵּר֮ הָאֵ֢ל ׀ יְ֫הֹוָ֥ה כִּ֤י ׀ יְדַבֵּ֬ר שָׁל֗וֹם אֶל־עַמּ֥וֹ וְאֶל־חֲסִידָ֑יו וְאַל־יָשׁ֥וּבוּ לְכִסְלָֽה׃

9Let me hear what God, the ETERNAL, will speak,as a promise of well-being to the faithful ones—this people;may they not turn to folly.

י׳אַ֤ךְ קָר֣וֹב לִירֵאָ֣יו יִשְׁע֑וֹ לִשְׁכֹּ֖ן כָּב֣וֹד בְּאַרְצֵֽנוּ׃

10Help is very near those who show reverence,to make God’s glory dwell in our land.

י״אחֶסֶד־וֶאֱמֶ֥ת נִפְגָּ֑שׁוּ צֶ֖דֶק וְשָׁל֣וֹם נָשָֽׁקוּ׃

11Faithfulness and truth meet;justice and well-being kiss.

י״באֱ֭מֶת מֵאֶ֣רֶץ תִּצְמָ֑ח וְ֝צֶ֗דֶק מִשָּׁמַ֥יִם נִשְׁקָֽף׃

12Truth springs up from the earth;justice looks down from heaven.

י״גגַּם־יְ֭הֹוָה יִתֵּ֣ן הַטּ֑וֹב וְ֝אַרְצֵ֗נוּ תִּתֵּ֥ן יְבוּלָֽהּ׃

13GOD also bestows bounty;our land yields its produce.

י״דצֶ֭דֶק לְפָנָ֣יו יְהַלֵּ֑ךְ וְיָשֵׂ֖ם לְדֶ֣רֶךְ פְּעָמָֽיו׃ {פ}

14Justice walks in frontas [God] sets out on the way.

פ״ו

א׳תְּפִלָּ֗ה לְדָ֫וִ֥ד הַטֵּֽה־יְהֹוָ֣ה אׇזְנְךָ֣ עֲנֵ֑נִי כִּֽי־עָנִ֖י וְאֶבְי֣וֹן אָֽנִי׃

1A prayer of David.Incline Your ear, O ETERNAL One,answer me,for I am poor and needy.

ב׳שׇׁ֥מְרָ֣ה נַפְשִׁי֮ כִּֽי־חָסִ֢יד אָ֥֫נִי הוֹשַׁ֣ע עַ֭בְדְּךָ אַתָּ֣ה אֱלֹהַ֑י הַבּוֹטֵ֥חַ אֵלֶֽיךָ׃

2Preserve my life, for I am steadfast;O You, my God,deliver Your servant who trusts in You.

ג׳חׇנֵּ֥נִי אֲדֹנָ֑י כִּ֥י אֵלֶ֥יךָ אֶ֝קְרָ֗א כׇּל־הַיּֽוֹם׃

3Have mercy on me, O my Sovereign,for I call to You all day long;

ד׳שַׂ֭מֵּחַ נֶ֣פֶשׁ עַבְדֶּ֑ךָ כִּ֥י אֵלֶ֥יךָ אֲ֝דֹנָ֗י נַפְשִׁ֥י אֶשָּֽׂא׃

4bring joy to Your servant’s life,for on You, my Sovereign, I set my hope.

ה׳כִּֽי־אַתָּ֣ה אֲ֭דֹנָי ט֣וֹב וְסַלָּ֑ח וְרַב־חֶ֝֗סֶד לְכׇל־קֹֽרְאֶֽיךָ׃

5For You, my Sovereign, are good and forgiving,abounding in steadfast love to all who call on You.

ו׳הַאֲזִ֣ינָה יְ֭הֹוָה תְּפִלָּתִ֑י וְ֝הַקְשִׁ֗יבָה בְּק֣וֹל תַּחֲנוּנוֹתָֽי׃

6Give ear, O ETERNAL One, to my prayer;heed my plea for mercy.

ז׳בְּי֣וֹם צָ֭רָתִֽי אֶקְרָאֶ֗ךָּ כִּ֣י תַעֲנֵֽנִי׃

7In my time of trouble I call You,for You will answer me.

ח׳אֵין־כָּמ֖וֹךָ בָאֱלֹהִ֥ים ׀ אֲדֹנָ֗י וְאֵ֣ין כְּֽמַעֲשֶֽׂיךָ׃

8There is none like You among the gods, O my Sovereign,and there are no deeds like Yours.

ט׳כׇּל־גּוֹיִ֤ם ׀ אֲשֶׁ֥ר עָשִׂ֗יתָ יָב֤וֹאוּ ׀ וְיִשְׁתַּחֲו֣וּ לְפָנֶ֣יךָ אֲדֹנָ֑י וִ֖יכַבְּד֣וּ לִשְׁמֶֽךָ׃

9All the nations You have madewill come to bow down before You, O my Sovereign,and they will pay honor to Your name.

י׳כִּֽי־גָד֣וֹל אַ֭תָּה וְעֹשֵׂ֣ה נִפְלָא֑וֹת אַתָּ֖ה אֱלֹהִ֣ים לְבַדֶּֽךָ׃

10For You are great and perform wonders;You alone are God.

י״אה֘וֹרֵ֤נִי יְהֹוָ֨ה ׀ דַּרְכֶּ֗ךָ אֲהַלֵּ֥ךְ בַּאֲמִתֶּ֑ךָ יַחֵ֥ד לְ֝בָבִ֗י לְיִרְאָ֥ה שְׁמֶֽךָ׃

11Teach me Your way, O ETERNAL One;I will walk in Your truth;let my heart be undivided in reverence for Your name.

י״באוֹדְךָ֤ ׀ אֲדֹנָ֣י אֱ֭לֹהַי בְּכׇל־לְבָבִ֑י וַאֲכַבְּדָ֖ה שִׁמְךָ֣ לְעוֹלָֽם׃

12I will praise You, O my Sovereign, my God, with all my heartand pay honor to Your name forever.

י״גכִּֽי־חַ֭סְדְּךָ גָּד֣וֹל עָלָ֑י וְהִצַּ֥לְתָּ נַ֝פְשִׁ֗י מִשְּׁא֥וֹל תַּחְתִּיָּֽה׃

13For Your steadfast love toward me is great;You have saved me from the depths of Sheol.

י״דאֱלֹהִ֤ים ׀ זֵ֘דִ֤ים קָמוּ־עָלַ֗י וַעֲדַ֣ת עָ֭רִיצִים בִּקְשׁ֣וּ נַפְשִׁ֑י וְלֹ֖א שָׂמ֣וּךָ לְנֶגְדָּֽם׃

14O God, arrogant people have risen against me;a ruthless band seeks my life;they are not mindful of You.

ט״ווְאַתָּ֣ה אֲ֭דֹנָי אֵל־רַח֣וּם וְחַנּ֑וּן אֶ֥רֶךְ אַ֝פַּ֗יִם וְרַב־חֶ֥סֶד וֶאֱמֶֽת׃

15But You, O my Sovereign, are a Godcompassionate and merciful,slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.

ט״זפְּנֵ֥ה אֵלַ֗י וְחׇ֫נֵּ֥נִי תְּנָֽה־עֻזְּךָ֥ לְעַבְדֶּ֑ךָ וְ֝הוֹשִׁ֗יעָה לְבֶן־אֲמָתֶֽךָ׃

16Turn to me and have mercy on me;grant Your strength to Your servantand deliver the son of Your maidservant.

י״זעֲשֵֽׂה־עִמִּ֥י א֗וֹת לְט֫וֹבָ֥ה וְיִרְא֣וּ שֹׂנְאַ֣י וְיֵבֹ֑שׁוּ כִּֽי־אַתָּ֥ה יְ֝הֹוָ֗ה עֲזַרְתַּ֥נִי וְנִחַמְתָּֽנִי׃ {פ}

17Show me a sign of Your favor,that my enemies may see and be frustratedbecause You, O ETERNAL One, have given me aid and comfort.

פ״ז

א׳לִבְנֵי־קֹ֭רַח מִזְמ֣וֹר שִׁ֑יר יְ֝סוּדָת֗וֹ בְּהַרְרֵי־קֹֽדֶשׁ׃

1aThe meaning of many passages in this psalm is uncertain. Of the Korahites. A psalm. A song.The temple’sbThe temple’s Heb. “Its.” foundation on the holy mountains—

ב׳אֹהֵ֣ב יְ֭הֹוָה שַׁעֲרֵ֣י צִיּ֑וֹן מִ֝כֹּ֗ל מִשְׁכְּנ֥וֹת יַעֲקֹֽב׃

2the gates of Zion—GOD lovesmore than all the dwellings of Jacob.

ג׳נִ֭כְבָּדוֹת מְדֻבָּ֣ר בָּ֑ךְ עִ֖יר הָאֱלֹהִ֣ים סֶֽלָה׃

3Glorious things are spoken of you,O city of God.    Selah.

ד׳אַזְכִּ֤יר ׀ רַ֥הַב וּבָבֶ֗ל לְֽיֹ֫דְעָ֥י הִנֵּ֤ה פְלֶ֣שֶׁת וְצֹ֣ר עִם־כּ֑וּשׁ זֶ֝֗ה יֻלַּד־שָֽׁם׃

4I mention RahabcRahab A primeval monster; here, a poetic term for Egypt; cf. Isa. 30.7. and Babylon among those who acknowledge Me;Philistia, and Tyre, and Cush—each was born there.

ה׳וּ֥לְצִיּ֨וֹן ׀ יֵאָמַ֗ר אִ֣ישׁ וְ֭אִישׁ יֻלַּד־בָּ֑הּ וְה֖וּא יְכוֹנְנֶ֣הָ עֶלְיֽוֹן׃

5Indeed, it shall be said of Zion,“TheydThey I.e., the nations of v. 4, or their members. were all born there.”It is the Most High who will preserve it.eIt is the Most High who will preserve it Or “[God] will preserve it supreme.”

ו׳יְֽהֹוָ֗ה יִ֭סְפֹּר בִּכְת֣וֹב עַמִּ֑ים זֶ֖ה יֻלַּד־שָׁ֣ם סֶֽלָה׃

6GOD will inscribe in the register of peoplesthat each was born there.    Selah.

ז׳וְשָׁרִ֥ים כְּחֹלְלִ֑ים כׇּֽל־מַעְיָנַ֥י בָּֽךְ׃ {פ}

7Singers and dancers alike [will say]:“All my rootsfroots Lit. “sources.” are in You.”
