21If, however, the person is poor and without sufficient means, they shall take one male lamb for a reparation offering, to be elevated in expiation, one-tenth of a measure of choice flour with oil mixed in for a grain offering, and a log of oil;

AND ONE TENTH DEAL OF FLOUR — for this lamb which is a single one he shall bring one tenth part of flour to accompany its drink-offering.

AND A LOG OF OIL — to place of it upon the thumbs. The quantity of the oil required for the libations of the meal-offering Scripture did not find it necessary to specify here (since it is given in Numbers 15:4 where three logs are prescribed; consequently the one log mentioned hero cannot be intended for the libations but for placing on the thumbs).

22and two turtledoves or two pigeons—depending on their means—the one to be the purgation offering and the other the burnt offering.

23On the eighth day of purification, they shall bring them to the priest at the entrance of the Tent of Meeting, before GOD.

ON TIIE EIGHTH DAY OF HIS BEING PRONOUNCED CLEAN — i. e. the eighth day after the birds have been brought and he has been sprinkled with the cedar stick, the hyssop and the crimson wool (cf. v. 10).

24The priest shall take the lamb of reparation offering and the log of oil, and elevate them as an elevation offering before GOD.

25When the lamb of reparation offering has been slaughtered, the priest shall take some of the blood of the reparation offering and put it on the ridge of the right ear of the one being purified, on the thumb of the right hand, and on the big toe of the right foot.

26The priest shall then pour some of the oil into the palm of his own left hand,

27and with the finger of his right hand the priest shall sprinkle some of the oil that is in the palm of his left hand seven times before GOD.

28Some of the oil in his palm shall be put by the priest on the ridge of the right ear of the one being purified, on the thumb of the right hand, and on the big toe of the right foot, over the same places as the blood of the reparation offering;

UPON THE PLACE OF THE BLOOD OF THE GUILT-OFFERING — even though the blood has been wiped off; this teaches that it is not the presence of the blood that brings about the validity of this rite but it is the place (the fact that the oil has been placed on the proper spot) that brings it about (Sifra, Metzora, Chapter 3 10; Menachot 10a).

29and what is left of the oil in his palm the priest shall put on the head of the one being purified, to make expiation for them before GOD.

30That person shall then offer one of the turtledoves or pigeons, depending on their means—

31whichever they can afford—the one as a purgation offering and the other as a burnt offering, together with the grain offering. Thus the priest shall make expiation before GOD for the one being purified.

ל״בזֹ֣את תּוֹרַ֔ת אֲשֶׁר־בּ֖וֹ נֶ֣גַע צָרָ֑עַת אֲשֶׁ֛ר לֹֽא־תַשִּׂ֥יג יָד֖וֹ בְּטׇהֳרָתֽוֹ׃ {פ}

32Such is the ritual for one who has a scaly affection and whose means for purification are limited.
